Hi all, this is such a great group and I appreciate this site sooo much. It has been very helpful and I am gradually getting my life back. I still havent's made it back to the gym, but I might try next week.
Well, short story is: Have had undiagnosed chronic Lyme for years apparently. Treated several years ago with 2 months of doxy. Around this time my "cycles" stopped for 6-8 months at a time, and they would just come and go. I became very ill this past March. Saw LLMD in May and began antibiotic treatment. Treatment brought back regular "cycles' for 4 months like clockwork. Meanwhile began rifing. Next I added LDN and I noticed hot flashes beginning. Now they are constant during the day. At the same time, "cycle' stopped. I just turned 49 and may be going through menopause. Has anyone else been thrown into menopause after starting LDN? Could these hot flashes be something more serious? I did read that lack of excercie can cause hot flashes. Before getting very ill in March, I went to the gym 4-5 times a week. Really miss it! Plus I've gained 20 lbs :-(

You might be surprised at a quiet side effect of LDN. It's been discovered to have strong potential as a weight loss drug.
Since I started taking it in June, I have lost 20 pounds. I control my appetite instead of the other way around. Not that I was a rabid overeater, btw.
I hadn't been able to go to the gym in years, now I have a personal trainer to help me regain muscle, balance and endurance.
There are many holistic type treatments for hot flashes. Do you know that during pregnancy and menopause, your thyroid is at it's most vulnerable? Estrogen spikes can wreck havoc on our already compromised immune system.
Maybe during a doctor visit you can ask for a full thyroid panel, one to include a check for antibodies,TPO is the name.

I wonder if LDN is really a weight lose drug, or if the immune boosting property helps eliminate Adenovirus-36 & 37 which are implicated in obesity?
I guess that is something for a researcher to find out.

I have hot flashes that I attribute to Bart. Others have made the link as well. It's a possibility. Hope not for your sake though.

Yes, my hot flashes are also bart related although it can certainly be menopause at your age.

I wouldn't hazard a guess but Dan you are right, inquiring minds want to know. We can only imagine the money maker it could be. The hunt has been on for the next blockbuster pharmaceutical.
I am pretty sure it's up-regulating my immune system. I have blood work scheduled ( I think ) for next week with the Rheumy. Maybe something will show up there.
