My blood level for Vitamin D came back at close to 0. The optimal range is 35-100. Yikes.

Anyone else? Anyone have any thoughts on Vitamin D?

My doctor wants my above 50, recently many think the range is too low.

I think it's very important to have it in range. It's important for the immune system and the inflammatory response vs. anti-inflammatory response.

I use both supplements and a Mercola tanning bed in the winter, and I spend as much time as possible in the sun in the summer (a couple hours per week split up).

Mine were initially like yours- I think at 6. Just an FYI- D2 supplementation did nothing to bring my levels up, but D3 did.

Thanks you guys. It's weird...I just looked it up really quick when I got the results, just out of curiosity, and it made me kind of nervous that no one was reporting a result lower than 4. Anyone ever hear of anyone having a value around 1? What causes that?

I'm sure it can be reversed. Dawn, I've heard the same about synthetic prescription D2, and that it was actually potentially harmful. I think D3 supplements are definitely the way to go.

Six, have you had yours tested? I've always wanted a Mercola tanning bed!

Yes, in March of last year mine was 54. I was supplementing 2000-4000 IU several times per week of D3 and tanning about 5 min three times per week.

Mine started at 12 and is now 45 after six months of 4000 iu per day for eight months...just takes time, but you gotta get it up higher!

Mine was 14 and didn't change after a month of 4000 iu daily. This past month I took prescription 50,000 iu once a week and D3 5000 iu daily the other 6 days. I'm getting a blood test tomorrow and will see if it helped. I was told vitamin D deficiency is common in Lyme patients.
