Could anyone tell me what (specifically) are the symptoms of babesia. I have never tested positive for Lyme but I have for Babesia. Some years ago, when a blood test showed that I had a past infection with it, my docot gave me 2 weeks of Mepron. That cleared up the night sweats I'd had for years but other than that I've just got worse.
Thanks!

http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/81386

On the link above are long lists of symptoms!!

2 wks treatment isn't enough to even put a dent in it. Hope you have a better doctor now!!

I agree with lymetoo. Two weeks of Mepron is not enough. Also, the dose of Mepron plays and important role. I think 5 months minimum for Mepron.

The symptoms that were most pronounced for babesia and that have gotten better with treatment are night sweats, dizziness or balance issues, extreme fatigue, chest pressure, shortness of breath, severe muscle aches and headaches.

Best to you,

Katrina

I've read minimun is 1 month mepron and zithromax and that is if no lyme is present.

I've seen LLMD's protocol to be to treat for 2 months till after symptoms disappear which seems to be a minimun of 8 months.

Mepron breaks the coating and zithromax kills the parasite.

Mepron also good for breaking the cyst form of lyme but you need a good drug to kill the L form and zitro is not the drug of choice for the L form of LB.

Thank you so much. Just a lot to learn. This doctor was adament that 2 weeks of Mepron would be enough and I had to push him for that too. He is known as a "well respected" ID doctor in a community that now sees a lot of Babesia and Lyme. I wonder if he has changed his tune now about how to treat it. Go figure!
