I don't ever get them. They don't work for me and I don't like vaccines. The fillers and such bother me.
Is there a general opinion that they are generally safe for someone who is loaded with toxins already (the bacteria, yeast and heavy metals) or would it be better advised to avoid them?
The reason I ask is that I'm getting pressure from outside family to get one...

Oh GOOD, I'm SO glad to hear this. Because it's exactly how I feel about flu shots!
I'll have more opinions to back up my own opinion with my extended family that is insisting I get one because of an ill family member.
If they feel this strongly, then I guess I'll just have to stay away because I don't feel comfortable doing the shot with how sick my body is right now.
I can't risk my own health to protect the health of someone else. ("protect" in theory.)

tell your family that your Immune system is already being over-taxed, & that such a "biological assault" (it IS a mix of weakened viruses in solution) would likely push it into Overload... which it would.
Plus, the Flu that gets around & causes issues for any particular year is often the 1 they never included in the mix. (Gee... I wonder why?! )

You could tell your family about your own immune system like kete says. But in case they don't get it, you could tell a little white lie and say yes, you got the shot at the walk-in joint at xyz pharmacy just to get them off your back.
I don't like lying at all and don't condone it, but I equally don't like the idea of extended family telling you what to do. Surely they don't understand your predicament. Fortunately, I've never had this problem but I feel for those who do.
You are so right that you cannot risk your own health. And, staying away from the sick family member is probably a good idea anyway, for both of you.

I think the whole thing about "doing it to protect others" is a lie. They (Big Pharma and the government) are saying that to guilt you into getting a shot... because "it's the RIGHT thing to do."

NO...NO...NO... I had one the winter before I finally found what was wrong with me. My doctor
said..."Now you don't want to get sicker than you already are." Within a couple of days I was
soooo sick...then a repeat of the same kind of sick 2 weeks after I got the shot.
After I found what was wrong with me & found my LLMD...the Dr said it was lucky I didn't crash & burn.

The last time I took a flu shot (thanks to pressure to do it), I got a lot sicker.

I don't like the idea of them. I don't think they work. I feel 4000 IUs of vit D per day, especially during the winter, beats any flu shot...
My boss just got her flu shot last week and was out 2 days immediately after with the flu.

They recommend the shots for kids with a history of asthma.
So years back b/c of her very bad asthma, despite my inner voice saying "no" I let my daughter get the shot because it was "in her best interest"
It wasn't "in her best interest" afterall and I regret to this day that I agreed to let her have that flu shot. She had a very bad reaction which lasted for several days.
For all I know that could have been the catalyst that pushed her into full-blown illness.
Where I am now is
...in the land of coulda/shoulda/woulda....
it's a place parents like me find themselves.
It's also known as guilt-central. I'm looking for a better name to describe parents like me.
Parents without answers (PWA), Determined mothers (DMs), ****ed-off people (pop)...actually that's my favorite at this point.

I wish they understand, or cared to understand. Not everyone is putting pressure on me but the ones that are really know how to push the guilt buttons. But I won't give in. I have three little boys that I need to become healthy for. Period. And like so many have said in this thread, the darn things aren't safe and don't work.
SOOOO many people in my life don't get it. Not even for a second. Even when I spilled my guts about everything I'm going through they don't get it, or don't care, one of the two.

Yey, our Ped was a real snot when the school vaccine requirements changed.
They want older kids to have a DTP shot. Well, stupidly we gave her the DT shot at their office 3 years ago. Now, they say it's okay to repeat them so we can get the Pertussis portion, as required.
I said"hell to the no." Why wasn't it in the one you gave us three years ago? I'm not repeating them just so I can treat whooping cough. And why you ask? So, my daughter doesn't risk the life of an infant. Screw that. Then give the infant the Pertussis shot.
This doctor had no knowledge of TBD's. She wont even give a z-pack when the lungs aren't clear and you've been coughing up crap for a month. She'll push inhalers and asthma meds instead.
So, she doesn't give one ioda about my childs immune system, and looked at me with irresponsible disgust because I'm not electing to save an infant neighbor. Well, I don't got one of those as she suggested, and it's not my damb responsibility, esp'y when she cares how much for my kid????

I never got flu shots until I had Children (in 2008.) In 2009, before I crashed, I had both the seasonal flu shot and the H1N1. My wife was pregnant and I travel a lot. I didn't want to risk getting them sick by bringing something home. I got my seasonal last October and my H1N1 mid-November.
I think I'm going to skip it this year.
In general, I don't have a problem with vaccines. Sure, there is a risk, but I'd rather have the risk of the vaccine then, say, Polio. But the flu isn't as big of a deal IMHO.

It seems like the only people willing to post opinions on vaccine questions are the ones that strongly disagree with them.
Well, I'm going to jump in and say that I do believe that vaccines are beneficial. Nellers because your immune system is taxed and unable to use the vaccine properly your family should be the ones getting the flu shot to protect you.
My immune system is now too weak to handle the flu vaccine and it makes me nervous. When I was in school I learned my lesson about skipping the vaccine (there was a shortage that year). I got the flu, so did my whole class, felt like I was going to die. Never got the flu when I had the vaccine even when I was directly exposed.
My friends and family care enough to get the vaccine now to help protect me. They haven't had any ill symptoms from it.
I've also done volunteer work in other countries that are less fortunate than us. The people did not have access to basic medical care. Their children were dying from preventable diseases! Can you imagine losing 3 out of your 5 children to measles? Can you imagine watching your baby suffocate to death because they were coughing so hard that they could not breathe? That's what pertussis does. And we all know people in wheelchairs with shriveled limbs that are disabled from polio.
These illnesses are real. We just don't see them here often anymore because most people get their children vaccinated. This is the purpose of herd immunity. It protects the unvaccinated children and immune compromised people like us.
If everyone stopped vaccinating their children then the herd immunity would disappear. We would see these infections return.
We should be grateful that these vaccines are available to those healthy enough to receive them. They are protecting us too.

I usually get the flu shot every year. I've never had a problem with it and never gotten a bad case of the flu. But.. I was just given my Lyme's diagnosis yesterday by me PMD. He gave me an Rx for an antibiotic, handed me my lab results and told me to see an infectious disease doctor - he didn't even recommend anyone. Anyway, he then asked if I wanted the flu shot! I said that in light of this new diagnosis, maybe it would be a good idea if I waited to see the specialist. He said "ok, makes sense" and left the room. Needless to say, I'm looking for a few new doctors today.
