I got the name of a llmd from ILADS, when i called i asked if he was a llmd and the lady seemed confused. So i asked if he treated lyme and she said yes. His name is Dr Z in Michigan. My igg came back neg, and igm was pos bands 23 and 41. An infectious disease doc said it is a false pos.

- To protect their privacy, practicing LLMDs names have to be limited to initials. You can edit that name by clicking onto the tiny icon of the pencil and paper.
There is no such thing as a "certified" LLMD but you can ask if they are ILADS-educated or an ILADS-member if which guidelines they tend to work with the most.
You do NOT want IDSA guidelines.
* Ask at the support groups
* Call the office mgr and ask for 2 minutes of her/his time so that you know you are choosing the right doctor for you. Ask what professional organizations to which they belong regarding lyme. Ask what set of guidelines they find best.
As you know, most ID doctors are not ILADS-educated. Most use the IDSA guidelines (not good) and most don't know that the IgM positive WB indicates CHRONIC lyme.
Most ID doctors don't believe that lyme can be chronic. Most are simply uneducated in this matter.

- I found his web site and see nothing that indicates that he is ILADS-educated. Lyme is not even mentioned. But, he just may not put that out there.
His specialty seems to be chelation for heavy metals and while that can be very helpful for lyme patients, it is not going to address the infection(s).
I saw another site where someone said he treated her for Lyme's disease and fibromyalgia. Well, lyme does not have an "s" on it and if she got that from him, and he says "lyme's" he does not know about LYME at all.
Also, the fact that he lists fibromyaglia as something he treats concerns me. Fibromyalgia is a symptom, most often a symptom of chronic infection. But most doctors are not aware of that.
The fact that he treats heavy metals, though, may indicated that he's found heavy metal treatment to help "fibromyalgia" but I'd get really clear on how he defines that term. Too many doctors stop short with it or want to drug the patient instead of assessing and treating infections.
I think you will likely be able to have a good phone conversation with his office manager, though, and find out more about his knowledge of lyme.
It may be that even if he is not ILADS-educated, he could be a good doctor for your support team. Most with lyme also deal with heavy metals.

It's best to get a list of names from someone here.... and THEN ask around and try to find several people who have been "cured" or recovered thru seeing the doctor in question.
