I just saw another thread about Cipro and now i am worrying.

my teen daughter was prescribed Cipro and Zith for bart. I thought Cipro was more benign then Levaquin. Is it?

I also don't know why we didn't do Rif and Bactrim instead. I'm not real sure how good this regiment is for bart.

Concerned about that and now these side effects....ahhhh.

Any thought appreciated, as well as success stories.

Thanks,

2roads

I just stopped cipro last night. The muscle pain was unbearable. I thought it was just my joints acting up, herx????
Went on-line and realized that Cipro was likely the culprit.
Phoned pharmacist-he said wait to talk to LD
Yeah right!!
I was in the worst pain in 18 months of treatment.
Today I'm loading up on Magnesium and will call Doc in morning

I had no problems the first time on Cipro, the second time it really worked on my head.

Major brain fog and bumps on my scalp. It was strong stuff and maybe I'll try it again. I'd like to get rid of the fog thru an easier route if there is such a thing.

My husband and my daughter have both been on Cipro with no ill effects.

Thanks Hens. Like we said, she was on it before without a problem. I guess I am just super sensitive right now.

I wish I knew how Cipro compared to Levaquin in terms of kicking Bart out of the ball park. Like how much less effective is it?

Onbam, Thanks for more clarity and your info.

I am very concerned about Cipro too. My child's LLMD wanted to switch her to Cipro at our last visit, but I nixed it due to all I've read regarding side effects; however, she still hasn't had any improvement since then, so now I'm worried that at our next appt he will again suggest Cipro.

Not sure what to do--perhaps try Bactrim, though am also concerned about possible sulfa allergy--always something to worry about--ugh!

2roads, sounds like your daughter is handling it well, so hopefully she won't have any bad reactions to it, only recovery!
