If you had Babesia and successfully treated this, can you tell me what you used?

I know this is a tough one to beat and everyone is different so not all therapies work for everybody.

If you did successfully treat with Mepron, can you PM me your dose?

Thanks!

I have been treating babesia for ten months. Started out with Zithromax and Tindamax, then added Mepron. Started with Mepron 1 tsp. twice a day, then increased to 2 tsp. twice a day.

I didn't think Mepron was doing anything, until I switched to Malarone and symptoms returned. Mepron works very slowly so you almost don't notice the improvement, and symptoms subsiding.

Thanks for your input, nspiker.. You must have been detoxing really well to tolerate that dose of Mepron.. How long have you been on it? Have you had any issues with liver or kidneys?

Detox, detox detox...it really does make a difference.

I have been on Mepron about ten months. Just adding Lariam.

I haven't had kidney/liver issues (knock on wood..

How are you handling the Mepron?

It sounds like you have some good methods of detoxing.. Can you tell me what you use?

I'm actually not on abx, but I am helping a family member. I am hoping to have a test done soon as I have all the symptoms as well. My family member is having some pain in the kidney and liver area so she stopped the Mepron for a couple of days. Back on it now.

This is what I use for detox;

lemon/olive oil drink
lemon in water drink
hydrogen peroxide, epsom salts bath
Pekana detox kit
Apple Pectin for binding
Oxy Powder for getting the bad stuff out and oxygenation
Used to use a far infrared sauna, but not anymore
Metabolic Maintenance Alpha Lipoic Acid for detoxing
Mega Chlorophyll for detox and oxygenation

Thanks so much for that information! I can see why you are tolerating the meds so well.

I'm going to buy the Apple pectin tomorrow. That sounds like a good binding agent.

Nspiker - Have you been taking Tindimax every day for 10 Months?

What dosage - if I may be so bold?

Do you think that you are almost 100% these days?

Posted by nspiker (Member # 22824) on :

Haley, I've taken 500 mg. Tindamax, twice a day, for ten months straight.

I'm not 100%, but much improved. I'm about 70% better.

nspiker, how long ago were you infected? I'm asking because my family member was infected in March of this year... Babs is the last thing she is treating.

I have no idea how long I've had this, never had a tick bite or a rash. Came down with immediate onset of arthritic symptoms 12/08, which eventually led to lyme/babesia diagnosis.

Usually, co-infections are treated first. Your family member is treating lyme?

Well, it's my understanding that biaxin and tinidazole treat lyme as well and the mepron and artemisinin are treating the babesia.

She is doing quite well, except for having the setback with liver and kidney pain.. She stopped meds for 3 days and now getting back to her routine..

Well, it appears that not many have successfully treated with Mepron.. Either that or they no longer come to this forum..

I didn't post because Mepron would keep me feeling pretty good, but as soon as I stopped it, even to switch to Malarone, I would relapse. I was on Mepron/Malarone for 20 months .... though it made me feel better, it did not cure me.

I had babesia, lyme, and ehrlichea. Treating babesia was really the key to beating the lyme, in my case. Until I seriously went after babesia,I only made haphazard progress. I don't have a spleen. though, and from what I have read, that was probably a big factor in my case-- Babesia is much more worrisome for patients with no spleen, leading to death in several cases referred to in what I read, even without the patient being (known to be) co-infected. (but given lyme testing, might well have had lyme too!).

I was treated with 'malarone', artemesia anua, and massive amounts of garlic and garlic derivative.

'malarone' contains mainly atovaquone, which is what 'mepron' is, but is formulated in solid tablets. I did not have much trouble with thes treatments; not too bad on the gut, no huge "herx", and if I remember correctly, I started noticing marked positive effects within 2 weeks.
I hope you have good results!

I agree with six. I felt good on mepron, I was able to think clearly. At first I thought it was the cure for me but when I went off symptoms returned. I also began to feel the toxicity of the drug.

Six - I'm sure you have posted this. What "cured" your Babs in the end?

I think the artemesia annua was very effective too. Just like everything with tickborne nasties, it seems a multi-pronged attack is necessary....

I've been taking Mepron for 11 months, along with artemisinin and azithromycin. Added A-Bab a month ago. My LLMD wants me to keep going with all of this because he's seen so many people have a return of symptoms when they get off of the meds "too early." But I haven't yet gotten a difinitive answer as to how early too early is. Six, I'm curious, too. And I'm wondering how long it takes on Mepron for most people to be better enough to back off of it successfully.

I treated all infections successfully with the Bionic 880.

I did use herbs for parasites and did a lot of detox. I chronicled it all in my blog below. Read from the last post forward as it's in reverse order, meaning the oldest post is the last one.

I took Artemisia for that whole 20 months, pulsed, 5 days on, 2 off.

Six and Haley, it does seem like most who take Mepron have to continue with something else in order to be cured of Babesia.. Makes me wonder if it is really as effective as Dr. B. suggests..

DS: Do you think the Malarone cured your Babesia? How long were you on it?

We are thinking of adding in Allamed a garlic derivative soon.. Hopefully that won't be hard on the liver and kidneys..
