I am on my 4th day on malarone (4tabs) and zithro and developed a rash on my tummy which is not swollen. More like very small bruises. It s only on a very small area of my tummy and looks like little needle pricks.
It happened when I was herxing.
Does Babesia die off causes rashes too? Or does it affect the blood vessels?
You're sure you're not allergic and they're not itchy, right?
I had similar bumps on my legs during a really bad herx from babesia. They came out when I got in a hot bath. It took a week or so for them to go away. You might want to try Benadryl, but it didn't help me much.

Mine looked similar to yours, only you're more hairy so it was harder to tell...
It started out as pinkish small blotches, kind of like little red flat bumps. I knew I was herxing because I felt terrible, had blood work done, and it was consistent with a herx. My LLMD also thought it was a herx.

After I started treating for Babs, I broke out with severe rashes all over. It was terrible. My body must have been overwhelmed by Babesia. I still get a little rash now and then, but nothing as extensive as it was back then. I went to an allergist and he said that my rashes were not due to a drug allergy.
Mine were (and still are) bumpy and itchy.

anyone else...I am started to get a small rash after taking bactrim for about 1 month. It is not ichy or bumbpy. It is pretty flat and small. Like small red dots. Wondering if this is babs diying off or a reaction to bactrim (hope not)

You know..I started Bactrim in early November for Bart, but we also suspect Babs. About 4 days in I had all of these small red dots that were much like a Pimple.
A week later, we added Rifabutin (related to Rifampin) for Bart. A week later...massive herx. Neck hurt, back hurt, had chills, skin felt hot, etc. Lasted 2 days.
The day after, I had my bloodwork done...WBC count was 1.6 so had to stop everything.
The day after I stopped everything, I broke out in a very bad rash. Raised itchy blotches. It lasted 4-5 days. Rash was all over my torso, neck, upper arms, upper legs. SEemed consistent to an allergic rash.
So..we assume it was from the Bactrim DS (allergy). But now I'm wondering if it was Babs?

I guess this is the balance that we need to have. On the one hand if this is a babs rash it might show that the bactrim is working an maybe another month or 2 more would do the trick. If this is the case I dont want to stop.
But if this is an allergic reaction then this can cause a lot of harm (not like I need this). I have taken bactrim now for almost 4 weeks so one would think that anything bad would have happend in the first 10 days.
I also have neck pain. It is somewhat bad but I can manage. The nect pain sounds to me like a herx more than a reaction.
either case I will call my doctor tommorrow morning and will report back

Be careful with Bactrim DS. You can pay a severe price with your 'guessing' if wrong.

yeah I know. It is scary but I dont have any other signs of a reaction. I read a post by bcb and it looks like the same thing he had. The rash is not getting worse and I feel find. Neck is hurting a bit but that is also better. I hear neck pain is a herx.
thanks for your concerns. this is a nasty thing we are dealing with but I could be a lot worse so we need to count our blessings.
