I've been on Flagyl for one week. I started with 1/4 pill (250mg)& will slowly work my way up to 3 pills a day. I'm currently up to 1 pill per day (cut in portions) & think I will keep this dose for awhile.

Initially everything was fine but for the last couple days I've been having terrible stomach pains. It kind of feels like I'm being punched in the gut. Additionally I feel very bloated.

I want to stick with it but I need some tips. Anyone have advise to ease my stomach?

Up until now I've been on Biaxin & Amox-Clav for 4 months and had very few problems. My body had to adjust to those meds but it wasn't as severe as my experience with Flagyl.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on this.

Thanks! -K

That bloated feeling could be GI yeast...

Try pushing good probiotics...florastor, thermalac. Also a no sugar diet...

That helped me, but I had to start nystatin too.
Flagyl is known to promote yeast growth.

In addition to a sugar-free diet, you should probably be doing gluten-free.

I'm actually doing sugar free, gluten free & taking nystatin daily. I'm trying to cut the pills up in 1/4 and spread them throughout the day. I'm not sure what else to do.

And... The stomach pains are usually the worst in the evening. Anyone know if there is a reason behind that?

My son was on flagyl for a month and then started having bloating and stomach pain. I think it made his yeast go out of control. He stopped the flagyl but is now dealing with many food allergies and presumably leaky gut from the candida overgrowth. If he eats the wrong food it bloats up terribly.
