I could of sworn it was asthma but passed all the testing for it.
And all asthma medicines did nothing.
So, dr's concluded I did not have asthma.
But I felt like I did.
Could not get a good breath. SOmethimes felt like I was gasping for air.
Is this what air hunger is like?
Thanks!

Air hunger is like you can't get a full breath. It's not the same as asthma. In air hunger you are actually hyperventilating, but with asthma you really aren't getting enough air.
I was tested for asthma when I first got the air hunger because my sister has asthma. They told me I was hyperventilating.

I think I have been experiencing this too lately!! I think it has to do with babesia! But I could be wrong.

Air hunger is related to babesia.
I had pulmonary function testing done and it was normal.
Night sweats, sore neck, joint pain, headaches....jaw pain, tooth pain, air hunger.
For me it was all babesia.

How do you know that you are not hyperventilating rather than having air hunger from babesia?
I have had bouts of this for 50 years. That is why I never thought I had babesia, since my tick bite, because I thought it was just hyperventilating.
For me I feel like I need to take a deep breath and can't. I try and try. Finally I do and it feels really good only to be followed by the feeling I lack oxygen again.
I would think hyperventilating is breathing fast and hard like when a person is frightened. I do not breath fast when this comes on. I do notice though that I do not wake up at night with bouts of it. I have to already be awake when it happens.
