My insurance did, too. You can probably get Biaxin. I did better on Biaxin anyway.

Isn't azithromycin a generic? Pretty cheap? Scary...

Not that cheap ... I wasn't willing to pay for it out of pocket.

Try the Canadian pharmacies. There are some good ones and are a lot cheaper than here in the US. The ins companies are denying many procedures and meds right now. It was on the news and the drs are upset. Just wait it is not going to get better folks...rationed care.

I hate to sound negative but I think it is going to get worse.

I'm trying to get IV Flagyl this year because I think the new health laws will affect what we get and what we don't get. There will be more scrutiny with procedures and medicines.

I currently have very good health care, I have never been denied for anything.

Scary stuff.

What insurance do you have?

Also, sometimes grocery store pharmacies offer free antibiotics. In my town, Stop and Shop offers free antibiotics (zith is not one of them, but I know doxy is.)

Good luck!

This is scary. So far our insurance has covered everything, but I know they are really starting to look at everything now.

I am already preparing myself for a fight. And fight I will.

You don't want to get in a Mama's way when she's trying to get her cub well. [Smile]

It's things like this that are really making me look a little more outside the box..... like looking more into Dr. K, and also the Bionic treatment in Germany.

On one hand I feel like I need the abx to keep my symptoms at a minimum so I can function. But on the other hand, I can't imagine being on abx forever. I'm hoping to find "the thing" that will help put my immune system back into the drivers seat so I can get off these abx.

The new crackdown from insurance companies is giving me further motivation to try to sidestep the fight that is to come.

This has happened to me, too. I've been taking azithromycin for over a year with no issue at all renewing my prescription. Then this month, the insurance company would only give me six pills instead of sixty. Does anyone know why insurance companies are making these changes? Oddly (IMO) they still renew the Mepron, and it's a far more expensive medication.

This scares me for the future. I have babesia, bartonella (x2), and Lyme and have a loooooooong way to go. If while treating the first of these I'm already running into issues with coverage, what will happen down the road when treating these other infections?

Has anyone had luck contacting the state insurance commissioner's office after meds were denied? We filed an appeal through my husband's company representative re the azithromycin denial and are now approved for, allegedly, at least another month.

Mine initially denied it for me. My LLMD's office took over and got it approved for a year.

We just did the switch, I did ok on the Doxy before. I am not going to stress about it. That is no good for my recovery. I have been seeing progress, so I trust I am on the right path.

There are options out there for those in need.

I am doing Dr, K's ART testing now. I have just the place for you Tammy. Its in Jersey !!!

PM me if you want

We don't have any insurance coverage as a family!

It has been so expensive! We have submitted our receipts to a government program but we still haven't found out if we will be covered or not.

It's a long story.
