I have read recently that scientist have just sequenced all the genomes that make up lyme disease, 13 strains i believe. This sound like it could have huge positive implications for the testing and treatment of Lyme , yet I hear no discusion here or on any of the other well respected lyme sites about this. Am I missing something ?

I have heard this as well. I think one of the challenges is how such information can be applied so it can help us.
I also think another hurdle is the cost of human sequencing today. It is still pretty expensive ($10,000+) although much cheaper than years prior (millions of $'s).
I think the big benefit will be when sequencing gets down to less than $1000 per person. Then, everyone can afford to go out and get their genome sequenced and we can see what bugs are really in our system. That is probably 5-10 years away.
