I was diagnosed with Lyme and co-infections last September. Have been treating since then and feel like we have knocked down Babs and Bart. Lyme is starting to come under control now too, with the usual flare ups.
My question is what is the relationship between Lyme and other autoimmune disorders?
So far this year I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's and now we suspect Ulcerative Colitis or Chron's disease. These are all autoimmune disorders. Is there a link? Can I expect further autoimmune problems? If there is a link, does the autoimmune problem go away after Lyme is successfully put into remission or has my immune system now gone forever haywire?
Someone please shed some light on this for me!

Certain folks with genetic markers like myself and my daughter are prone to autoimmune disorders. Lyme can certainly be a trigger.
Many people are able to get the autoimmune portion into remission once the lyme is under control. A great source is roadback.org it is a site for people diagnosed with autoimmune disorders triggered by an infection (lyme) and treated successfully with antibiotics.
