I got hairy black tongue and began to feel very sick with dizziness and extreme fatigue. I was not sure what was wrong but got some feedback it was from the yeast.

I quit the abx four days ago to fight the yeast infection. I have an LLMD appointment in three weeks so I think it is a good time to try to clear it out before my new treatment. I am taking massive amounts of herbs and supplements hoping to keep the diseases at bay.

What should I be doing and how long should I expect this yeast infection to take to clear up? How do I detox it out of my system? I am taking 5 chlorella capsules int he morning.

I put undiluted graperfruit seed extract on my tongue expecting it to kill the yeast for sure but it just burned the heck out of tongue and throat. Nystatin seemed to be causing mouth soreness too so I quit it two days ago. I have a few diflucan capsules left which I will take in a few days. Meanwhile I am taking the grapefruit seed extract capsules.

I eat plain yogurt several times a day. Put apple cider vinegar on my salads. I still don't see a change in my tongue.

My Gastro Doctor put me on the South Beach Diet - Phase I for 6 months. I took VLS-3 Probiotics every day during this time and after six months of following the diet very strictly the Candida was gone.

i've been fighting thrush too for several months. mine is mostly white throat on the sides and plenty of white gooey stuff on the tongue.

i took diflucan for a week but developed severe migraines and abdominal pain. i was glad to stop.

it might have taken care of systemic but it really didn't touch the mouth.

i'm taking olive leaf and zand candidaclear three times a day.

also taking a ton of probiotics but it ain't helping.

i've got an appt with a dentist to have my teeth cleaned on thursday and i'm going to ask him about it.

gotta be a better way.

When I have a bad yeast flare I CANNOT get away with eating yogurt... PERIOD. Check the sugar content of the yogurt and you'll see why.

Also.. Liquid Nystatin contains sugar. Figure that one out for me....still wondering.

Be sure to buy the very best probiotic you can find and take plenty of it. Right now you probably need some Diflucan to kill this out right now.

Consider VSL#3 or Theralac ( www.theralac.com )

Candida diet and elimination:

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

Try Kefir, a yogurt drink. It has enzymes that really help. I also take nystatin.

Nystatin tablets or powder are OK.

Kefir has sugar unless you make your own.

thanks everyone.
I am eating plain yogurt and got the more expensive "Greek" stuff today. I always take refrigerated accidolphalis every day. I take fish oil, B100, C, D3, chlorella, alpha lipoic acid and much more. I will look for kefir. I have never had it before.

I do not eat any sugar, haven't for three years, but I do need to lay off the bread. I read pineapple helps so I got a fresh one today.

My dizziness is getting better and my daughter said there is a virus causing dizziness and headache with fatigue so maybe I had a touch of that too.

I am going to take the last of the Diflucan- only four left- in a day or so when I feel the dizziness is under control. I don't use liquid nystantin, just the capsules but I am not taking it right now because my mouth was burning and it seemed to be making it worse. I am taking grapefruit seed extract in capsules. My mouth can't take it in water right now. It isn't hurting tonight.

Pineapple is TERRIBLE.. it is almost pure sugar .. bread turns into sugar.

All simple carbs like bread, pasta, white rice, etc turn to sugar.

Sorry to tell you all this but you need to know.

Acidophilus alone usually isn't enough when you get a bad case of yeast. Get the good stuff with many strains of active bacteria.
