What abx or combination of meds helped you most for muscle and joint pain? Is this pain caused by Lyme, bart, or babs?
My daughter and I have all three infections, and we both have lots of pain in our joints, especially our knees, hips, and ankles. We also both have aching pains in our calves and shin bones.
I was just wondering if any fellow lymies had any luck with any particular med or mix of abx for these symptoms. Thanks Posted by hadlyme (Member # 6364) on :
Would love to know what gets rid of this too.
I've been on most combo's of meds, and I NOW am getting worse with all this.
My take on it is that it's part of the treatment and getting rid of it. Symptoms move around as we treat it, and I'm thinking this is my 'time' with this pain!
Wish it would go away.

My son is suffering with this too. All the supplements, antibiotics and treatments are long term solutions... the road to recovery.
For the immediate, constant, excruciating pain....I think you have to have some kind of pain killer. I finally got his LLMD to prescribe Tylenol with Codeine (today)for the really tough times. This is a band-aid fix to get him through the really tough times... but who's to say how much pain you have to be in to take a pill?
I have been trying to determine the best natural relief for pain relief by reading what people are saying is working best for this type of pain.
Search this forum for Curcumin (aka Tumeric) It seems to be the giving people the most relief from inflammation... which I believe is the cause of the pain (besides lyme and co-infections).
I am going to ask our LLMD if we can add that to our regimen. I don't see a reason why not... but it's always good to ask.
Would love to hear what is working for people. (especially with children) Am I on the right track adding the Curcumin?

I have a 1981 CA Lyme strain. For me, 150mg clindamycin 1-2x/day completely stops fibromyalgia pain and greatly decreases joint swelling.

I'm in the same boat as hhoskins. I recently started taking curcumin but I think it's too soon to notice any change. I try not to take any pain medication due to the amount of stress we are already putting on our kidney and liver plus I think inflammation/pain is our body's way of fighting off the infection - maybe I'm wrong, but I would rather suffer thru this and know what is aching me so I can give my LLMD an honest appraisal of the situation. For me, it's migratory pain but mostly in knees, shoulder, shin bone and occasionally soles of feet.

this all sounds like Bart to me. I'm in the same boat and don't know why it's that way all of a sudden.

I have all 3 infections and never know what symptom I'm having goes with what infection. I was having problems with joint pain and when I started taking bactrim it was gone in 3 days. I've never had such a fast response to other antibiotics. Maybe it was just a fluke and the joint pain was going to stop anyway. I don't know. May be worth a try. Please post if you try it and it helps.
