It seems in the past few years I now get the flu every winter.
I never used to but it has been since like Jan of 2008 and then winter of 2009 and now this year too.
I got a flu shot in 2009 but that did not stop me and I got the HINI actually..
So do you all think I should start getting flu shots or just keep trying to endure them?
In 2008 it was so bad that I did get a big regression in my overall condition and I have that fear still....
But I am much better now overall but still get nervous every winter and I again have been sick all week with a flu bug of some sort. And all the fever and aches and pain and nausea and diarehea and the head aches and sinus and ear aches and sore throat and lung inflammation pain and on and on.. you name it symptoms during the duration of the flu...
I do not know what to do if I can do anything?
And I know I never got the flu or was sick like this before a couple years ago.. So not sure what changed. but it did.
ANy ideas would be appreciated.. Anyone else have this sort of situation or frustration?

Take prescription doses of vitamin D!
Keep Tamiflu on hand! I got the flu last year and Tamiflu made me feel better in just two days.

I would definately not get the flu shot. I'm not sure what prescription doses of D are but I agree, very high doses of D3.

I am on Vitamin d3 5000mg a day.
I do not know how to get Tamiflu to get on hand. Can I get that without a script somewhere?
Posted by sutherngrl (Member # 16270) on :
Prescription D......50,000 IUs per week. I started out on 100,000 IUs per week to get my D up fast.
Your LLMD or regular doctor can write you a scrip for Tamiflu. Mine did last year and I kept it stuck on my frig all winter, until I finally got sick and had it filled. Or just go straight to the doctor if you get the flu and start on Tamilfu within 48 hours of getting sick.

I just saw a commercial that Tamiflu is available without a prescription. I think it's a lower strength.

Thanks Six I am going to check it out.. My doc might do it too.. but I will look into the options.
I already have gone through a year of getting my d3 levels to where my doc wants them and I use 5000 to sustain.. So I dont want to mess with that I do not think?

Spring, I'd go with getting Tamiflu to have on hand.
What does doc think of flu shots.. I know I don't get them, as back in 1999 I got one and wham, that's when I went into a tail spin and had 6 months of tests to find out I had lyme.

I get the Flu. vaccine every year and have had no problems. This year I got the revised H1N1 combo with the Flu vaccine and was achy for a few days. Other then that no problems.
Last year I refused the H1N1 on advise .
I'm very positive for Lyme, Babesia and XMRV.

Take LOMATIUM , to prevent and treat flu.
It's an antiviral herb in the parsley family that grows on dry western plains.
It saved the Washoe Indian tribe from the 1918 pandemic flu. It takes one pound of fresh herb to treat 3 days of pandemic flu.
It's easy to find and buy on the internet.
I bought and took 3 different brands of extracts, i hardly noticed which brands.
It completely, permanently wiped out , eradicated, my herpes simplex lip sores! It worked for me, for herpes at least, i can attest.
Stephen Buhner says it is a strong herb, only take it for one month. I posted a Q saying i had already taken it for one year and had no plans to stop. He posted A, that if i have that kind of tolerance, go for it!

If you have serious flu, i've read that IV injections of high-dose vitamin C will cure it.
I just read that in one place; i didn't research it.

Thanks everyone. I am so glad I asked and got these Ideas..
I so appreciate it. The Lomatium I have heard of and I will get but I have not heard of Monolaurin?
OH but just looked it up and its Lauricidin. Ok got it now. So which is better. The Lauricidin or is the Monolaurin ok to take. Obviously Lauricidin is some sort of proprietary brand..
Lauricidin Mini-pellets
* 95+% Pure * 1-3 scoops per day * No additive or fillers * 40+ years of research * Cost $0.13 per gram
Monolaurin Capsules
* unknown purity * 10-30 capsules per day * numerous inactive fillers * ???? years of research * Cost $0.45 per gram

THanks much
I already worked up to 60 and plus some... and am still taking my 5000 a day to sustain...or if it goes up a bit hirer I guess thats ok. I do still get tested very so often to see where its at and it stays steady
So what amount will you take when you get to your 60? Are you going to stay on it and at what amount?
I think I am doing it correctly.. and following doctors orders.
So I am set on my D3 I believe. From what everyone is saying and my doc..
I am pretty sure..
Posted by springshowers (Member # 19863) on :
Oh just noticed silly me that above poster wrote 50000 per week of Vitamin D3 so that would be like 7000 a day..
Ok Whew I missed that and was thinking Wow thats a lot a day..
I wonder from those who have gotten levels up what your dose is at?
Posted by sutherngrl (Member # 16270) on :
I think my D level is at least 100. I get it checked next week. Doc thinks it needs to be minimum 80.

Your doctor should prescribe you the tamiflu - just in case. So many great ideas. But I will use my Jalapenos in vinegar. You need to take them immediately, so carry them in your bag like the lipstick. Or take them before and after you go out.
important:immediately not hours after your throat hurts already.

I never get the flu shot, I don't want anything that isn't necessary to be injected into my body after all these years of treatment and finally getting better. I don't tell people not to get the vaccine, but make an informed decision. Read the package insert (links below). Pay attention to the test results area that says are based on the seasonal flu vaccine because the H1N1 hasn't been tested. Some of them contain Mercury. Some contain aluminium adjuvants... Oil based adjuvants - may increase the risk for vaccine-induced chronic inflammation and autoimmunity in some children and adults genetically predisposed to atypical inflammatory responses and autoimmunity. No published scientific studies have examined whether those already suffering with chronic inflammation associated with brain and immune system dysfunction may be at special risk.
I got the flu vaccine one year and it put me straight down a road to he**. Never again. I'd rather have the flu.
I do get the pneumonia shot every 10 years.
And, I'm on 50,000 D once a week. Levels are finally tolerable.

High doses of Vitamin D3 (like 50,000 per week) will help.
Olive leaf will help. So will lauricidin pellets

Taking vitamin c in a relativly high dose would help. There is a study on it on pubmed. It showed that it helped for preventing it, but wasn't so helpful when you first had acquired it.
Posted by springshowers (Member # 19863) on :
Lauricidin I ordered some and never got it. Turns out my doc thinks I was really sick but not the actual flu but. I have one doc saying get the shot and one that says I should avoid it but its up to me.
UGH. Its scary because when I get the flu or even sick I get very sick and do not recover as fast as I would like and I am afraid of relapse and or what I call regression backwards in this disease.
It sucks.
So still thinking it over..
Anyone who has more info on the flu shot and safety and or your experiences is much appreciated
Blessings to all

Propolis sprayed on throat or just drops on the tongue. Once or twice a day.
We're also on the VitD3 just in colder months, and so far, so good.
Another thing that helps are all the Penicillium from Sanum. They are a big help to prevent anything to develop further (to be taken since day one after we feel we caught a cold). For colds or flu, it's usually Notakehl or Quentakehl that will help.
