Is ear aches part of Lyme. My husband has recently been complaining of an ear ache. I remember he had the same problem in hospital when he was in for Lyme. I plan to make an appt. with dr. but just was courious.

Yes, this was my first symptom that started me going from Dr. to Dr...very bad ear pain, but no infection. Thought it was an atypical migraine, so went to neurologist. Not a migraine, back to ENT. Nothing wrong with ear, back to GP, maybe a sinus infection, not that either, perhaps TMJ, to TMJ specialist...anyway, you get the point! [Smile] It was lyme. Hope it goes away for him soon. Mine is starting to subside after 3 months of IV treatment.

Your TMJ is a joint... lyme loves joints.

TMJ disorder (with or without lyme) will make you feel like you have an ear infection, but nothing ever found when looking into your ear.

I've been in the dental field for a long time and dealt with TMJ patients... and myself one.

Went for years with ear pain and dr.s that said nothing was wrong. When I found out it was my joint, it all made sense. Now with lyme, it really makes sense. (I have a bad bite which torques my joint, and then on top of that the lyme loves this weak spot too)

Just an idea if they aren't finding anything.

Maybe an xray by a dentist.. and they can see what the joints look like.

Thanks for the great info. It makes sense too. My husband has TMJ disorder so why wouldn't the lyme hit that area? It messes with everything else. I had a feeling it might be tied into the lyme but its nice to have someone else to bounce things off of. Really appriciate it.

i used to wear a custom splint (2500--ouch) every night.

since i broke my 3 tooth bridge and had to have it replaced, the splint didn't fit anymore, so i haven't worn one.

my tmj specialist said i ground my teeth so bad i had actually worn them down. with the splint i had holes in it from the grinding.

maybe that's why i'm having such awful jaw and ear pain. my whole head hurts....

i hate to think i've got to go back and get another splint.

geez, it gets expensive doesn't it...

Whether from TMJ or the ears themselves, ear pain and lots of ear issue are very common with lyme and other TBD (tick-borne disease).
