I suffer from an infection with throatpain and extreme tiredness since 2,5 weeks. i have really tried to rest and sleep much in this time, but this stuff simply remains. i have even problems to just stand.
since this seems to be a bit too long and too severe for a normal flu i am thinking if there might be a connection to my lyme disease (which I have for years).
what do you think is this? is my immunesystem too weak to fight a normal flu-virus, can it be the lyme itself or is this a special infection which must be tested and treated?

We had a bug in our house that was every bit of two weeks and none of us are sick with Lyme. I can see how that horrible bug could be worse and longer for a Lyme patient.
If you're concerned, you might mention it to your LLMD. But be aware, there was something like you describe that was going around here. I have had a cough for 4 weeks now, though all the other symptoms have gone.

You might want to go get a strep culture just to be sure it's not strep throat.

thank you. the tiredness got worse. i have to stay in bed now and have even problems writing this. have this stuff for 3 weeks now.
just an ordinary virus? dunno.
my doc tested me for strep, i do not have results yet. he also tested me for epstein-barr-virus. results:
it could be a bit reactivated (igm is still a bit high). but im not sure if its the reason for my throat-infection.

Have you tried yeast treatment? Daughter had yeast in throat. Sore, tight, etc
Hope you feel better.

I had similar tiredness with some headache, dizziness and mild brief sore throat. My daughter, who does not have lyme, was also sick but hers did not last as long. I felt bad for 5-6 weeks and still feel not completely well. I think we have a harder time recovering.
But is is hard to tell when it goes on and on if it is lyme related or not. Before I was diagnosed I thought I was catching something new every month.

interesting to read you had similar problems even for 6 weeks!
its strange: sometimes it feels we dont get flu-like viruses. then it seems if we get them, we get them severe.
when you have flu-symptoms its your immune system causing them, not the infection. so a severe flu seems to be a better sign than a mild one?
yeast might indeed be a problem since i have white coat on my tongue.
i always tested negative to candida albicans (blood, culture of tongue and stool), but heard that there a also strains of yeast.
maybe i should just try nystatin.
does anyone know if my ebv laboratory test does tell much?

Still have a sore throat. Still too tired to get out of bed.
I only left my bed to go to an infectious disease doctor. it was as depressing as always before.
he said my blood seems to be fine (no inflammation) so I cant be too sick. ha ha. have heard this before.
my wbc is only 3 and the doc thinks therefore i have an ordinary virus. but my wbc has always been that low.
the only thing he wants to test is my stool for worms.
he also mentioned legionella, but did not test it due to my low wbc. did anyone have this?

Sore throat can be an Epstein-Barr symptom, and fatigue is very much an Epstein-Barr symptom.
With that said, sore throats can be a lot of things.
Sometimes, starting with the doctor is the best bet.

oh no, you might be right.
a doctor i have just been to looked at my tests and is sure this is reactivated ebv.
there seems to be no therapy. it can take months - up to five years - until you feel normal again! i already have this symptoms 4 weeks now and still cant leave the bed.
