Im hearing alot of people on here writing about yeast overgrowth being very common in people with lyme. now the only reason I can think of is because of all the antibiotics that we take. is there any other reason why lyme patients have more yeast?!?!!?

fill me in,

Thousands upon thousands of Americans have serious problems with chronic yeast overgrowth due to numerous fatal flaws in the typical American diet over the past ~50 yrs.

- Too much sugar in all its forms.
- Too many simple carbs.
- Too much milk sugar.
- Inadequate intake of a wide variety of fresh, pesticide-free produce.
- The list goes on...

Please read The China Study by Campbell. It's a real eye-opener.

Lyme patients don't automatically have more trouble with yeast overgrowth than the average Joe, we're just more aware of it. Lyme patients must work to control yeast overgrowth because of the numerous negative health impacts.

Candida is opportunistic and can explode when the immune system is down.

Candida control diets are shown to be beneficial for patients with Endometriosis, Fibromyalgia, TMJ, and more...

Most "conventional Western medical practitioners" (US ducks) prefer to ignore chronic yeast overgrowth as a problem because it can be controlled with a sound diet. No need for Rx drugs, costly surgery, or expensive high-tech tests.

The US agribusiness empire and the pharmaceutical industry don't want you to understand the real dangers of eating most "food" advertised heavily on TV.

Be different. Be healthy!

Because of all the abx.

Maybe because of the depressed immune system as well. Lack of good bacteria in the gut also allows yeast to grow.

I say depressed immune system. I actually cleared out yeast through use of IV rocephin during which my immune system got more control of my lyme even though I am still far from well.

For me, the depressed immune system came first. (after years and years of untreated Lyme and babesia)

I found out I had yeast before I began treatment for Lyme. In fact, that is HOW I found out I had Lyme!

It led me to my LLMD!

Does eating yogurt any kind really help?I have been eating 1 a day hoping not to have to deal with additional problems. Can we take more than 1
probiotic daily?

Yogurt has always made me worse. It contains too much sugar. Read labels.. even plain has sugar. Maybe if you have NO problem with yeast, it is OK.

Take TONS of probiotics. I now feel that you must take a minimum of 50 CFU's per day. I think taking that much twice a day would be much better.

I never took enough while on abx and then some really bad things happened this summer and now I'm in bad shape. I wasn't taking enough probiotics.

Also.. don't buy the cheap stuff!

Not being able to give up my yogurt I bought plain sheep's yougurt that has 3 grams of sugar.

That is the lowest I have found.

It's expensive $2.79 for a 6oz container.

I eat plain, organic stoneyfield. It is good.

I take around 100B probiotics daily

You can make your own kefir, it's easy. www.kefirlady.com is where I got my grains.

Also, you still want to take probiotics in addition to the kefir. Kefir has more strains of bacteria than yogurt.

That's pretty good, islands!!

I may try Kefir again.

I don't think diet has anything at all to do with yeast overgrowth. Microwaves from wireless antennas is behind the yeast issue, in my opinion...

Kefir is quite different with different qualities from yoghurt.
