I know Mepron is supposed to be the best for Babesia, but I don't know if I can handle it. I went from being sick but functional to totally laid out. I have a two year old, and my husband is in the middle of finals.
I might be able to restart when he's done with school, but is there something else that's effective that's a little easier on the body?

Yes, Bactrim DS. That's how I got rid of babs since I couldn't take mepron and zithromax.
My doc says it takes twice as long using Bactrim DS as it takes with mepron/zith.
You could also look into Malerone. A few herbs to look at are A-Bab and Enula.

Oh, sorry to hear that. I don't have personal experience with either of the ones I mentioned, and figured the doc could be asked about them, see if they fit the situation. Lariam helps some people but others have psychiatric side effects! Hard to say how people will react to any med.

I second the Bactrim suggestion (side benefit is that if you have bartonella, it might work on it as well).
One drug used by a few LLMD's is Alinia- it's unclear if it really hits babesia or not but quite a few LLMD's believe it does. It also kills various parasites that you might be unaware of having. Anyway, my experience with it is that it was really low-side-effects, although it seemed like my progress on it wasn't particularly dramatic. I think it'll still cause herxing- I can't imagine that ANY babesia treatment wouldn't cause some kind of effect like that- but I think it's a bit lower side effects than some of the others.
