Wondering how many of you take any meds for anxiety or depression.. I am taking xanax which helps especially when I have to go out and with sleep.. I am on a low dose but take it daily . For me it has been a good drug..

I use both Xanax and Ativan. Ativan works great at night for sleeping and I like Xanax if I need anything during the day.

I've been taking the same dose of both for many years and it's still effective for me. The Ativan I use almost every night but I don't always use anything during the day.

I take xanax sometimes. It actually really helps with dizziness, so I often take it for that more than anxiety.

I have, too. I would imagine that many, if not most, Lyme patients have at some point, as our CNSs can be utter wackydoodles!

You may also want to give deep, slow meditative breathing (deep breathing from the diaphram. Inhale "1-2-3-4 pause exhale 1-2-3-4. It actually physically slows one's heart rate, too.) and other techniques like EFT as well. I'm a seasoned biologist, but swear by both of the above.

I did 20mg of Prozac for 4 months. Been off of it for 3 months.

I just ended up with a major depressive/anxiety episode: Ativan saved my life

Xanax and Valium for me the Valium stopped working so now I'm taking the second highest dose when I feel anxiety which mon-friday is before I get on the train I dont know why but thats when I need it. I dont feel like it completely is doing the trick as I still feel anixety though.

After going through so many of these, just knowing that they will not last forever helps tremendously. Trying to not get caught in the chaos of the feeling and symptoms. Last but not least seeing the anxiety as an enemy and mentally knowing you can defeat it..

If it is at night time and I need to sleep, Cortisol Calm and a homeopathic adrenal support seems to help.

20 years ago pre lyme I took Ativan

lyme and bart stirred up nasty anxiety
coupled with depression...often hard to sort those.

I take IM Rx homepathic aurum injections in my thigh as needed
with Rx aurum metallicum oral pellets sublingual as needed.

My non lyme literate integrative MD Rx's the IM version. LLND Rx's the sublingual version.

I find homepathics suit my body without the
"drugged" feeling that accompanies the other.

but I can tell you, as reluctant as I might be to take those anxiety meds again...if it were my only recourse to eliminate the worst or make it manageable...
you betcha I would use them.

My sister uses Xanax to manage anxiety and panic disorder--as needed.
She is 7 years "post lyme" and had a predisposition to anxiety and panic but lyme sent it soaring.

Yeast did/does too.
So can parasites.

I find that the anxiety can become so debilitating
at this stage where I have regained some physical capacities, even to interfering with work that I have to get on it.

Aside from the sheer misery.
At one point bad enough to wanted to die.(not suicidal)

Not good to lose mental resources when I need them not just to work and earn a living but to work the rest of this program for the physical recovery.

what fuel1212 said about self talk and working hard to anchor yourself beyond it somehow is a survival technique I use.

Still feels like ball & chain but at least you can get head above water long enough and enough times to when there is relief or it disappears.

It does. It is gone right now but I agree with who said it is an enemy.

I have to treat it that way quickly or it can take me down faster than current physical symptoms...or so it seems.

My experience in the most recent year of lyme recovery.
