I am scheduled to have a routine (altho I have new left lower quadrant pain-which GI feels may be spasms, gas or IBS) colonoscopy and an esophagascopy (for long-term Gerd-acid in my mouth most mornings) in 8 days. I am to have Versad and Demerol.

I've had the same 5 yrs ago with no problems, except low BP. I've had CFIDS and probably Lyme for over 10 yrs, altho just diagnosed with Lyme for 1 1/2 yrs. I've been on oral antibiotics for about 1 year, with no improvement. I stopped these about 1 week ago for the procedure, because they make me feel so terrible.

I have very foggy thinking, and my brain is just not right. I also just got a cold (sore throat, stuffed nose, and feel feverish)

I'm concerned about the sedation. I am worried that i could get brain changes with the meds for sedation and pain, in addition to low BP (can be 80-90/50-60).

Anyone have a colonoscopy and/or esophagascopy? I would very much like to hear others experiences. Any problems? Thanx for your responses.

My husband has had 3 since his Lyme diagnosis, which has included CNS/neuro symptoms. He had never had any problems with the sedation, or any aftereffects.

Good luck with your procedure. The prep and anticipation is much worse than the scoping itself.

Just make SURE they are well aware of the low BP.

PS.. Your acid reflux and GI pain could be from candida/yeast. (They will not find it in a colonoscopy.. I'm pretty sure.)

Just go on the diet and ask your dr about a possible run of Diflucan to make sure all bases are covered.

I had one a couple of months ago and I have low to low end of normal blood pressure.

The procedure was a breeze. Just make sure to take electrolytes during prep - what a difference that made from the first one. I used Alacer's Electro Mix (not the Gatorade they recommended)

Yes just take electrolytes you will be fine .
Versed and demerol have very good profile of use in people.

Don't worry, not a big deal at all. Had one and had anesthesia with no problems whatsoever.

I can't answer your PM's 14K but if you go to the "del" column and then check the boxes then click delete you can get rid of messages.

I got my ElectroMix at Vitacost.com but you can also get it at Whole Foods (more expensive there, though)

Good luck with your procedure!
