I went to a biological dentist today to find out more about getting my amalgams out... I have 12 - 3 in each quadrant. Surprise, surprise...
He put my saliva under a microscope and called me out to look at the slide on a computer screen.
I saw my first, live spirochetes. Many, many corkscrew spinning bugs. He said this does not necessarily mean Lyme... but because I have been having increasing brain fog (and blaming it on the mercury in my teeth)...
I should see a doctor.
We will go broke if the whole family needs to be treated at once!
My husband has heart palps, dizzyness - rushed to the ER by ambulance from work last week... ER refused to do WB. According to them... Lyme does not cause heart palps or dizzyness and besides, there is no bullseye rash - they showed my husband a picture of what to look for (how helpful, right)
My daughter has strange scratches as of this morning... and a headache. At least I know a good LL peds doc.
Last time I asked my PCP to do a WB on me she refused based on lack of symptoms. She suggested I might be imagining it because I am around my son so much and he is sick. Bullc***
So... I guess I start calling some of the LLMD's I have from inquiries in the Seeking a Doctor forum. I have a file started... I had a feeling I would need a doctor for my husband and myself, eventually.

Treponema denticola is the salivary spirochete.
It doesn't necessarily mean you have Lyme, but it doesn't mean that you don't.
I found my T.denticola before my B.burgdorferi. I think the T.denticola flourishes because of a dysfunctional immune system.

Thanks for giving it a name. I will do some research on this Treponema denticola. The dentist did say that there are many kinds of spirochetes and that spirochetes in the mouth are usually a sign of periodontal disease or gingivitis... which I don't have at this time.
He also gave me some mouthwash type stuff to disinfect my mouth with... if it is the totally oral kind, that's awesome. I'll just zap them with the water pic + the mouthwash!
He is very familiar with Lyme and he is friends with Dr. H.(NY) The dentist suggested I get tested. I had a veterinarian suggest I get tested... and my ND... I just wish I had a doctor that wanted to get me tested!
I want the WB for my whole family... just to be on the safe side.

Maybe you could chelate heavy metals if you don't have many symptoms.
Some people have gone into remission from detoxing alone when it was in it's early stage.

Supposedly this mouth spirochete is very common. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it.
Of course saliva is going to be full of germs. My guess is that most of them won't harm you. It's normal to have germs in the mouth. I'm not sure what the mouth spirochete may or may not mean, though I do know most people have been exposed to this spirochete. It makes band 41 on the Western Blot positive, if you bleed during a cleaning or from flossing (it gets in there, then your body produces the antibody. No biggie).
I can think of a million things I would be worried about before this (viruses in the body, systemic strep, mycoplasma in the body, yeast overgrowth in gut, parasites, etc etc etc).
