My rheumatologist just informed me that I have protein in the urine. I have been on a heavy dose of malarone for 2 1/2 months, (four pills a day). Could it be the reason? Or could it be due to the Zithromax that I am taking with Malarone? Or a combination of the two meds? Of course it could be unrelated. But I've never had this problem before. Any suggestion?
Thanks

Sounds like a kidney problem

No kidney problem there at all! Those are cytokines (which are also proteins), so that means you have inflammation in your urine... (just like you probably have it in your blood if you check your sedimentation rate (or maybe even CRP)... If I were you I would not worry about it as I think any abx treatment can cause inflammation... But maybe your rheumatologist just looks at those inflammation signs to declare that you may have R.A...

Shahbah,
you think protein in the urine is not from kidneys.I have that problem since ever and you think it is cytokines. But the test says albumin. Do you have more information or some articles?
I have inflammation in my blood vessels causing bad throbbing and vibrating but nobody can treat it.

Here:

I think it all starts with a leaky gut, thus creating inflammation in the blood vessels, muscles, urine...
I really think we should all concentrate on treating our leaky gut first, which medication makes worse... I bet you are allergic to almost everything...?

Also Karenl, have you treated for babesia?

Thanks for the article. Yes I have inflammation everywhere, it shows on the thermagram. I have severe MCS but I can eat everything.

I did not find that the cytocines are protein in the articles.

My babesia test was negative, so we never treated. And I have no signs of babesia like sweating ...Can babesia cause protein in the urine? I would have a prescription for mepron, which I could use.
