Hey everyone old and new!

I can't remember my old log in details as dontlikeliver - I've been away a long time, livign life again.

I now have a question though, especially for recovered or mostly recovered 'old timers'.

What is your experience with vaccinations? I have an opportunity to travel to India, but this would require lots of stuff, Hep B, Typhoid, Tetanus, Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Polio vaccinations.

My LLMD says not too high risk now I am doing so well, but I would like to hear how any of you have handled vaccinations after recovery.

I will have a TBE injection though - anybody had that here? How did that go?

My son was bitten by a tick more than 2 years ago.

He was going away to camp in June and they required a TDAP booster before he went...

At camp he got uncontrollable nosebleeds and headaches.

When he came home from camp he had fevers, stomach aches, headaches, body aches, pain in knees, ankles, all over, etc.

I insisted on a Lyme test, rheumatoid arthritis and sed. test for rheumatoid arthritis. He tested + for Lyme.

Only looking backward in time do I see the beginning of this as the requirement for the TDAP, his GP says there is very little mercury in those... but any amount of mercury is not good.

I have heard you can request mercury free flu shots? Can you do the same with vaccinations?

My sister had a severe reactive arthritis after the second Hep B shot. She never got over it, ended up on disability. It took about 5 years of traditional rheumatological treatment for her to get to 80%. None of the next generation in my family--very prone to reactive arthritis-- has had the Hep B shot. I would avoid it. She is not the only case. At the time, in the mid-90's, there were many cases in the literature.

Hi Liver, nice to have people drop by again. Have a good trip to India.

Thanks for your responses.

Anybody have the TBE vaccine?

I've read a ton of stories about people who've been brought out of remission by vaccinations. I absolutely 100% would not risk it....google CDC vaccine excipients. Even if you didn't have Lyme, none of that stuff would belong in your body.

NO way I would do it. I won't even take flu shots.

What's TBE?

HI liver! [hi]

I don't think the choice is as easy as you guys are making it seem.

With immunizations before travel, you don't really get to choose.

So with this mentality, you all would never travel to a location that requires immunizations again?

Many schools require that you're vaccinated for Measles/Mumps. Would you pass up matriculation in these schools?

Where does it end?

TBE is tickborne encephalitis -- a virus common in many European countries.

Search this site using terms such as swine flu. There was a long detailed post (may have been writen by Dr Mercola -- not sure) that told how to detox from a vaccine. Included specific doses of various supplements etc.

That would be my personal choice.

Is there any way you can space out the vaccines - I think the biggest risk is in doing multiple vaccines in a short time frame.

I did find one an article on detoxing from a vaccine -- but not sure it is appropriate for lymies -- most of the supplements are immune boosters and messing with the immune system gets very tricky. If you harbor any lingering virus or tickborne disease boosting your immune system quickly can actually backfire and make your body think you have acute mono for example.

There have been many discussions regarding vitamin D supplementation in the past.

The article by Dr Blaylock (former neurosurgeon who has written about the dangers of aspartame) can be found in several versions with a google search.

5vforest,

The reality is that only a very small percentage of the population (even in the U.S.) ever travel to a location which requires vaccines and many lymies never recover their health to the point they can travel or their finances will not permit that after years of chronic ill health.

Yeah, traveling to India is the furthest thing in my mind. A far-fetched dream. [Frown]

...But think about it from the OP's perspective.

Is the risk of vaccination to somebody who (I am assuming) is completely recovered high enough to pass up the opportunity to travel?

I'd say even it's even more crucial for those who are in remission, given how hard remission can be to attain...

I know someone who went to Africa without shots, he said he didn't have to but all the others on his trip got them. Are you sure they're mandatory?

Here's a site that may have info for you. http://www.nvic.org/

TBE is Tickborne Encaphalitis. A bad, bad thing. I am living in Sweden now and TBE is an issue here.

Ok, India trip is not happening as I have a new job now and won't ask for time off so soon.

But the TBE vaccination is still an issue for me. My LLMD says it's OK to have it now I am doing so well. I am a bit scared of relapsing of course, but on the other hand, I am also very scared of getting TBE and I am not going to lock myself indoors from April to November either.

I don't know how much of a problem TBE is for you guys, but I'd really want to do my own research before even considering getting one of these things to make sure I wasn't being taken for a ride. What is the incidence of TBE where you live? The big pharma execs have no problem with drastically misrepresenting the dangers posed by diseases in order to sell drugs--think last year's Swine Flu outbreak.

If I ever got to remission, I don't think I would jeopardize it to protect against something unless it had a really large chance of happening.

If you're in a relationship..well, that is a another consideration, as we're probably more contagious when we're sick than when we're well.

Just my thoughts...
good luck, whatever you do.

TBE is a considerable problem in Scandinavia and Europe...not new or overhyped. Can be very serious and higher frequency of death than Lyme.

I personally would not put my beautiful, hard-won remission in jeopardy. Travel is one of my absolute favorite things. And yes there are places I would love to see that require shots. Instead I will re-direct my attention to the many other beautiful places in the world that do not require shots. I'm not a gambler. I'm just too scared to take a chance.

I think the TBE shot will require careful, careful consideration. Really do your research before getting stuck.

Wishing you a life-long remission.

Be well,
Tammy

I once had a flu shot and a pneumonia shot (in 2006). Brought out the worst in me. I actually had a flu shot last year and was okay with it. Not doing it this year though, something is telling me not to.
