17 Hens, it's a computer question not in relation to Lymenet. We can't really help. Maybe someone who's really computer literate can help. I have a Mac, so I'm clueless as to what's wrong.

Go buy a new keyboard. There cheap and this sounds like a keyboard issue and not a software problem.

Hi elizzzzzzza! Not sure if I have the answer, but I posted in your other thread. I'll paste my reply below in case you miss it there:

I don't have a PC, and I haven't done technical support for many years now, but it sounds like your kitty helpfully changed your keyboard layout for you.

I'm not sure if this will work, but I did a google for the phrase "reset windows default keyboard layout" (without the quotation marks), and found this bit of advice someone else received:

"To select a keyboard layout

Open On-Screen Keyboard.

On the Keyboard menu, select the following keyboard options:

Select the keyboard layout.
To use a keyboard layout which includes the numeric keypad, choose Enhanced Keyboard.

To use a keyboard layout that does not include the numeric keypad, choose Standard Keyboard.

Select the way the keys appear on the keyboard.

To display keys as they would normally appear on a standard keyboard, choose Regular Layout."

If that doesn't work, try performing the google search string I mentioned above, and see what other advice might be out there.

Hope that helps.

It's fixed! Thanks, everybody! System restore did it...I restored it to where it was yesterday, once I found what to click on. I was looking for a system restore 'button' on the keyboard, didn't see one...that's why it didn't work.

By the way, the solution to your original problem:

a) I assume you have a laptop, or some kind of keyboard without a number pad.

b) Your cat hit the "num lock" key, which turns part of your regular keyboard into a 10-digit entry pad. J, k, l and ; correspond to 1, 2, 3, and + when in this mode.

All you have to do is hit the numlock key again.

Sorry I didn't read this earlier.

Hmmmmm.... I have a laptop and I just tried that. It didn't work. Maybe only for laptops without the number pad? I have a wide screen with the number lock.

Elizza - Did it work?
