Normal range is 1.30 to 9.80. I am 11.33. I just received a copy of my bloodwork in the mail with the doctors note saying "do not take any over the counter DHEA". Well, I don't.
Any insight you could offer would be appreciated.

It could mean several things but one of the things it could mean is that your adrenals are working too hard so you are producing more DHEA.
Have you had your adrenal function tested?

Thanks Abx. Wonder why my adrenals are overworking. I'm tired as hell. They should just take a rest.

They are overworking because you have lyme disease. They never shut off, they are working 24/7. Usually the adrenal glands start out over active and then eventually burn out meaning initially one is producing too much cortisol and then eventually not enough.
The majority of folks on this site have issues with their adrenal function. Use the search tool, there have been many, many discussions written about it and if you Google the subject there is much written about it, plus I'm sure others will chime in.

Tammy, My levels of DHEA were way off the charts when I did my first bloodwork, scared the hell out of me because I thought I had a tumor or something. After 8 months of treatment, my DHEA levels have dropped back down into the normal range and I'm much relieved. Mine was definitely due to Lyme and Bart. Good luck to you!

Mine are always lower via blood and higher via saliva. Doctors are mixed on which are the more accurate reading thou I think integrative types favor the saliva readings.

PaulR2006 - that's what I have been thinking....something worrisome like a tumor. My body is definitely mis-firing. I'm having a lot of 'fight or flight' responses come over me (especially upon waking in the morning or middle of the night, and also after naps). Very hard to feel peaceful when I feel my body reacting as if I'm in imminent danger. Not a fun ride.

That feeling can come as a result of cortisol levels that are too high or low, not necessarily a tumor but that is possible too. Either way the cortisol levels need to be balanced with adrenal support, as it is not a healthy condition.
