Does anyone else get short dizzy spells? They only last about 2 or 3 seconds at a time, but they are becoming more and more frequent.

Averaging 10+ times a day now.

It doesn't matter if I'm sitting or standing or even laying down. There doesn't seem to be any time or circumstance to make it happen either.

Thanks for any thoughts.

I have been dizzy for 20 years so dont go by me..they are so bad in the last six mths that I can no longer work...that is the reason I saw the LLMD who said chronic lyme...many abx cause dizziness..i know most can do it...I was told by the ear specialist I was seeing that abx burn the hair follicles in our inner ear so he warned me to be careful with this treatment and I would probably need vestibular therapy again after to regain my balance..

Yes, I used to get those spells as you describe.

Do Ginger capsules help? Magnesium?

It could be inner ear &/or it could also be many other things such as some kind of low blood pressure, POTS or NMH. See the Cardiac thread below for details.

It could also be drops in blood sugar so be sure you are stable in that regard.

Are you sure they are just dizzy spells? My dizzy spells turned out to be seizures. I didn't realize this until I ran my car off into a ditch...

Do you get a funny taste in your mouth before they happen?

Any memory problems just prior?

I suggest you have a "Tilt table test"

I've been dealing with this since 2003,with the passing out,Trips to the ER. couldn't walk more then 20 feet or so,couldn't go into stores as the lights made it much worse.
I can't count the doctors and tests I've had.
My best evaluation is an malfunction with the Hypothalamus/Pituitary/Adrenal glands.
There also seams to be a connection with the Brain stem/Ears
Keebler has info on this.

Find "wildcondor" on this site she has much background on this . (wildcondor.com)

Thank you for your replies.

I do take ginger capsules every day. 3 actually.

I have been slacking off on the magnesium though. I take espom salt baths every other day and haven't been keeping up with the oral magnesium. Thanks for the reminder.

I don't notice any funny taste or memory issues just before or after they happen.

I am supposed to get my adrenal function tested next week. Thanks for the great suggestions!

Merry Christmas!

Yes, I call them brain zaps, but I believe they are just microbursts of dizziness. Mine are only when I'm moving or exerting, never at rest. I may get two or three in rapid succession. The scary ones are the ones that last a full 3 seconds, more than a zap.

My LLMD has ordered a carotid ultrasound, but I really don't think it's that.

Yes i get these, and also find they are worse when in stores etc. Its like my brain loses communication with my eyes for a split second.

Hard to explain but never lasts more than a few seconds.
