Well...it was fun while it lasted. I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 week "drug holiday" over Christmas and New Years.

I ate whatever I wanted (although still laid off the booze.) It was heaven. I kept up with my Probiotics and Nystatin and had no yeast issues. In fact..my tounge is the clearest it has been since starting treatment.

Overall, I felt pretty good while I was on the break. I did notice a few mild things. The mild tinnitus, of course. But also noticed my left hand started tingling a bit about a week in. And I still had the calf twitching come and go and the intermittent left foot pain.

So..started Omnicef (new drug for me) last night and resetarted Doxy and Flagyl with it. Looks like I'm treating all 3 forms of lyme now. Cool. Hope this is the home stretch for me. I'm so close, yet still can't seem to close the gap.

I still worry Bart is the culprit of my remaining sx...but time will tell.

Happy new year, all! 2011 will be the year of HEALTH for me! I hope it is for you, too!!

Good luck! I hope the Omnicef works and you can be done with all the abx soon!

Happy New Year to you too!

I know what you mean about being so close, but still can't close the gap. I so get that. I am in that place myself. Just hang in there and good luck.

Good luck bcb!

I spent the last 18 months on Ceftin (I am pretty sure it is related to Omnicef) and loooooved it. I know, I have a very strange treatment regimen compared to many here, but I wasn't able to handle more due to how sick I had become (37 yrs congenital Lyme and multiple re-infections since, with multiple high-dose steroid shots and pills).

I am convinced it saved my life, and my whole family can tell I am getting better! But now it is time to move on, now that I can handle more meds, and my improvement rate is dropping off on the mono-therapy.

I hope this gets you where you need to be. It sounds to me like you should also listen to the Bartonella concerns you have. Maybe you could do the current regimen for a good long while to knock down the Lyme then a final assault on Bart with maintenance Lyme meds to keep it down until you're done w/Bart. Just wondering out loud.

Anyway, good luck! Sounds like you have made a LOT of progress!
