Just recently diagnosed w/ Lyme's and Bart. I'm on Rifampin (sp), plaquenil and doxy. Started the Rif w/ supplements last week no problem but added the other drugs in today. Fell asleep at 8pm and woke up at 10 and have been throwing up. Not sure it is too much for my system to handle. Is this normal? Should I ask to change the amount of meds I am taking? Please advise....I feel awful.

No throwing up is not a herx symptom Better call your LLMD

When my daughter started treating she would introduce one at a time.. low and slow is what her LLMD recommended.. I do think it could be too much at once. Don't worry about backing off until you speak with your LLMD.

Vomiting is a common reaction to doxycycline, I had the same thing. Try taking it with a small snack or meal.

Eat a little, then take doxy, then eat a little more. Go slow.
Are you taking probiotics?
If you have insurance, ask for a prescription for VSL#3-DS (probiotic) - 900 Billion good things per packet.

Mebendazole made me nauseated and dry heaved. Most drugs didn't though. I'd check with your doc.

Dear AnnaOD20, The cyclene class of drugs does not set well with me. None of them are tolerable! They give me severe nausea and diarrhea. Tetracyclene and Doxycyclene are bad for people with sensitive stomachs. Amoxy is gentler on the digestive tract, as long as you are not allergic to it. As the others mentioned, probiotics are important to take to restore the good microflora and prevent further complications.
Sincerely, Jin

Thanks everyone. I was sick every 20 mins from about 10 until 6:30. Do you think it could have been my luck to start all these meds and then get hit by a stomach bug the same day? Now so scared to go back on meds again but since no one else had this reaction wonder if I may have just had a bug??

Honestly it could have been several things. Maybe something you ate upset your stomach and then the doxy just made it worse. or maybe you had a bit of a stomach bug. or maybe your stomach just needs to get used to the doxy. how long have you been taking it? It takes some time sometimes for our bodies to get used to the med. Don't be afraid to take it. see how it goes the next few times you take it and if no problems then dont worry! you have to see how it goes.
I agree tho that you should take doxy IN THE MIDDLE of a meal. eat half the meal then take the doxy then eat the other half.

Thanks...I spoke to the NP...restarted the Rifampin today and on Monday going to take amoxycillin instead of doxy and going to wait a few days to start the plaquenil again. Before this diagnosis I really cannot remember the last time I had antibiotics and think it was way too much for my system (but I also think it could have been a combo w/ a stomach bug since I hear it is going around). I would like to be able to aggressively deal w/ this diagnosis but still have to function w/ having two little boys at home to take care of! Thanks for the feedback.
