Has anyone heard of or taken Allicin? It's a natural antibiotic made

from garlic that is supposedly effective in treating Lyme.

Thanks for the reminder of garlic/allicin.

Allimed has some nice studies, also in the UK where it was used successfully against MRSA.

Hepapro's worked better for me. Many here also like BioPure.

My daughter used Allimed. Very expensive $90.00 for 10 days.. She didn't notice a big difference either way..

My LLMD strongly believes in the use of Hepapro Allicin, and I've consulted with Dr. Z, the book's author as well. It is one of the few oral "drugs" that crosses the BBB. On the occasions I have tried it, I have had herx reactions from it. However, the course of treatment is a minimum of 6 months -- 2 capsules 3X/day. The problem I've had is that I smell terribly like garlic (raw smell, not like great cooking), and people tend to back away from me if I've taken it within the prior 12 hours. So, it may be a great natural "antibiotic", but it's hard to use if you have to go to work or have a social life. I'm trying to incorporate it even a couple of evenings/week, but I do still smell strongly in the morning.

The major remedy that got me well was freeze dried garlic. Do a search on garlic here and you will find many different threads.

Not all garlic is equal. Make sure you get the right kind that still has life in it.

Garlic is antibacterial, antiviral, antiparasitic, antifungal, and also effective when detoxing toxic metals. It is by a long shot my favorite remedy, easy to take, especially if you get the organic freeze dried. Stay away from any garlic whose place of origin you do not know. You defintiely don't want garlic out of china - in any form. It has to be organic garlic, fresh because freeze dried.

mattnapa, no, that is not right. The allicin is
the important part and is protected by gentle freeze drying.

This is from a lengthy garlic talk by Dr. K. He loves the stuff and so do I.

"The medicinal properties of fresh garlic have been known for centuries and it has been the mainstay �anti-infective�of numerous civilications through the ages.

The problem that has arisen in presenting garlic as a supplement is the inherent instability of the initial active substance, allicin, which is created when a clove of garlic is crushed.

Allicin is not found, as such, within the garlic clove, instead, when the clove is crushed, allicin is formed instantaneously from the interaction of an enzyme called alliinase on a precursor of allicin called alliin.

By selecting the highest quality of garlic cloves, rich in alliin and alliinase, and then gently freeze-drying them, a concentrated powder is produced which only releases the prime active allicin component when ingested and rehydrated, i.e. all of the allicin is released within the gastrointestinal tract. This is exactly how the highest possible potency garlic is presented as a concentrate with all of the active components intact,


This way it is an active concentrate of freeze-dried garlic rich in alliin and alliinase, which releases high levels of allicin directly in the gut when ingested and rehydrated.

We take the freeze dried garlic after the last bite of the meal."

Or you can dissolve a couple of organic fd garlic capsules in a bit of warm water and that way you can take it between meals instead of taking it after the last bite of a meal.

I took it 3x3 or 3x4 capsules per day for a long time (1-2 years) slowing down when the odor became too strong, and then resuming. It took care of a whole lot of Lyme and other infections.

I did max 3 months of abx in the beginning and then only garlic and other herbals as more became known. I haven't had Lyme in years.

It only works if you get rid/lower of all other toxic burden, i.e. toxic metals, chemicals, etc. Parasites because they hold a lot of toxic metals, and the metal terrain attracts the critters. Lyme Disease never happens alone. There are a bunch of other players that need to be addressed.

I can only recommend this approach, because it never left me with organ problems, gallbladder, kidney worries, etc.

GiGi, I apppreciate what you wrote. I find myself in a situation of needing alternative therapy to antibiotics.

Could you recommend or give a link to where you purchased or acquired your garlic? Thanks for any help.

Garlic doesn't cross the BBB for me.

I use the freeze dried caps from biopure.

I LOVE using them when I'm treating parasites though. It gave it an extra kick/herx for sure.

no-lyme, Biopureus has an organic freeze dried garlic. Study the protocol a bit. I have posted several others you can take a look at.

Canefan, you can put them all together in the cocktail, including Cilantro tincture if it tests. Cilantro crosses bbb. You can put the parasite stuff into the same cocktail,
after testing. Body is very clear cut about wanting cilantro or not, if you test. I put the pharmaceut for parasites in the cocktail. Always with Phospholipid Exchange.

GiGi -I am pretty sure kyolic aged garlic does not contain allicin, so I thought that might be the case with other aged garlic. Thanks for the clarification

I don't care how bad I reek of garlic. If it helps it helps!
My LLMD suggests using Allimed, or allimax, I can't remember. Right now I can't afford it.

I know it is different from taking garlic, or garlic pills..because this is STABAILIZED allicen.

Take it long enough, it's suppose to be really great. 10 days isn't going to do much for you from what I remember. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

I took garlic for a few years, always testing energetically before doing so.

If I have an inkling of the flu, the freeze dried garlic is ready in my medicine cabinet.

So, can it be assumed that if you take a fresh garlic clove and crush it with a garlic press and then eat it, this will have the desired effect? I would think that because it's fresh, it would be even better than freeze-dried, no?

One thing I can tell you is that I have taken the cloves from one to two bulbs of garlic (about 20 cloves of varying size), put it in the toaster oven until golden brown and then eaten it. This has without a doubt produced herxes. I don't know what it did or what it killed, but it did something .

Funny how when you chew raw garlic, it burns in your mouth, but when you toast it very lightly, it takes that burning edge off. Obviously, lightly toasting it does something chemically in order to do that, but I wonder if it also renders it less effective.

That's why I'm tempted to try just pressing it raw and slugging it down with a little water.
