Hi - first thanks to everyone who has helped me out here so far! I haven't answered many posts myself yet because I'm still so new and learning so much - I'm hardly in a position to help anyone else...so a few more questions...
I was taking clrthromycin for bart for a month and stopped last week per dr instructions. since then I've had this dull headache that just will not go away. I'm going back to get tested for bart and lyme within the week...but I'm guessing this headache is a bad sign?
I actually lost weight from this sugar free diet and thought I was going to kick this thing. I will be so upset if I have to be on an abx and other meds for months and months but I guess we are all in the same position here.
Assuming I have bad news is there a recommended daily sugar gram amount? Can I have a cookie like once a week? This is the worst...
Thanks again..I'll keep everyone posted on test results.

It does seem as though the bart has come back. I'm very surprised your dr stopped the clarithromycin. Bart is not easily conquered.
You could probably have a cookie a week.. if you can stop at ONE cookie!! I would have a hard time doing that!!
If you have symptoms of yeast, then NO SUGAR is best.. but if you have no signs of it, you might** to be able to get away with 5-10 grams of sugar a day. I'm not recommending that.. but just sayin'!
**everyone is different! I can't get away with it myself

Thanks lymetoo - that was one of my initial questions - why only a month?? Frustrates me that the dr is being so conservative (well-respected llmd who I like) - I guess b/c all else in my bloodwork looked good.
But yeah I'm pretty sure I haven't made a dent in the bart...my hands are all still swollen and stiff in the morning. Now the headaches and neck pain.
So yeah I have yeast too :-( Maybe I'll try one cookie a week - I have to have something just to feel normal. I don't know how diabetics do it...sugar substitutes SUCK!!!
