there are a few threads on this...but i am extra foggy these days and wonder if someone who knows about this stuff could answer a few ?s

i'm settling into a new place and know how to make it chem free and want it to be as ray free as possible

i bought a few of the products from emf blues and haven't really noticed any difference but i don't think they will hurt me. i have somethingfrom them on my cell but i am using it less now that i have a land line that is not wireless.

if the cell is turned off does that help lower the emf load? what about when it is off but charging?

the non-wireless landline phone is the best way to go, right?

i have my computer without wifi...but i am in a complex and there are at least 5 others close by...is there a way to protect from them? they are all security-what ever except one...and even tho i have my computer hooked up with a cable it always says it is connected to the one wireless computer close by. it goes to that automatically or something---so even if i tell it to disconnect...the next time i am online it is connected. how do i fix this?

i have a small microwave but don't use it much and don't stand in front of it when i do.

i'm not sure how to protect from tv...one is flat screen---one not...

and i don't use heating pad or elec blankets...and i keep clocks far from the bed-and only one in the bedroom. but i do run a fan all night for white noise and use a small elec heater in bedroom so i don't have to heat the whole house. the regular heat is elec thos...is that bad?

are there othere appliances that are a problem? lights?

any info you can give me is appreciated...since i'm mving it it is a good time for me to try to make things right. thanks you.

A charging cell phone is one to stay far away from. Put it in the farthest corner from people.

Even if a cell phone is not being used, it should not be near your body.

Recently on BookTV (which is the C-Span channel on the weekends) - Dr. Davis told of a young woman who had an ongoing severe headache and it turned out to be caused by her cell phone.

The lecture had some amazing images (MRI or CT scan, or similar). The proof is in the images - the heat/radiation really invades the blood brain barrier, and targets soft tissue of the head.

You can watch that here:

As for a microwave, I think it changes the molecular structure of food and liquid. I just like my food not exposed to radiation in order to get hot.

If I think the stove top or the oven are too slow, I recall the lives of my ancestors - or millions around the globe who have no stove or oven at all.

But, I actually do eat a lot of cold left overs due to lack of energy. Still, I'd rather eat it cold than from a microwave. Just my thoughts.

For your other excellent questions, I'm sure others will be along. I do hope you enjoy your new home and flourish there.

I will add, that if you watch good stuff on TV, your body will actually resonate in harmonious fashion.

A Japanese researcher had some experiments along those lines. The more you can do to bring good feelings and good energy to yourself, the better your body can hold that when other ---- too tired to finish that sentence. More here:

If your computer is picking up wifi from your neighbor's, you're in trouble, whether your computer is 'accepting' this wifi or not...only I'm not sure anybody can really get away from it nowadays...

...and in my opinion, a cell phone should not be used except in the event of a life or death emergency. And in the last twenty years, I've had exactly zero of those, so I guess it depends on how you define 'emergency'...

Such a difficult issue if you're living in a complex.

I am a bit surprised to hear that a charging cellphone would be that bad. I'm sure there will be electricity going on, just like all electrical appliances, but would have guessed not much else when it is off and charging.

Certainly, when it is on, it is sending out pulses of radiowaves and this is something you're looking to avoid. Ideally you would turn it on as little as you need to use if effectively. When it is actually being used for a call, much higher level of signals than not during a call. Of course, ideally, just a regular wired phone.

I have heard microwaves, even when not in use, but plugged in, generate a lot of EMF's. Since I do not have a microwave, I have not really proven that out. So, unplugging when not in use is an idea you can consider. There are also measuring devices you could get to determine what it is really doing when not in use.

Remember, even if you are using wired connection to the internet, if you have a router that is wireless-capable, it will still be sending out signals unless you took special steps to disable that feature.

Same comment about laptops these days, they have an on-off switch for wireless. That is going to be some button or switch somewhere on the device. The message you get seem to indicate that you do have the wireless aspect of the computer on.

Regarding the radiowaves that your neighbors are inflicting you with, if you are lucky enough to establish a relationship with them, you might talk to them about the idea of at least turning those things off when not in use, or at least when they go to bed, as that is the most important time for your body. There are methods for blocking the radiowaves, with fabric or other materials. lessemf.com is one place where such things can be purchased, their staff is very helpful. Perhaps some well-placed things on a couple key walls could provide you some relief. As measuring device could potentially be able to help you determine where things are coming from. But, my experience with this is, that is a very difficult task, as the radiowaves bounce around so much. Still, if you can execute it, there is some possible help for you with that approach.

Good luck!

wow-thank you to everyone. this is a lot for me to do...i will print this out and work at it a little at a time

it woudld be easy for me to click the switch on the power strip the microwave is plugges into...but hard to unplug it... do you think that would help? is it really turned off?

thanks again

theres a bunch of these emf threads now...it would be good to get them together---alot of resources

you maybe be able to reduce the amount of emf around you.

But as long as you're living on earth, you'll be exposed to a TON on a regular bases. Like it or not.

I am one of those who are not convinced that this is a very real health issue, except in extreme cases (power lines etc)

unplugging a few appliances is like spitting back at the rain.

I'm really sensitive to EMFs, so we got a meter and went around the house. The poster above was right about the microwave. It doesn't even have to be in use to register off the scale.

We try to charge our phones as far away from where we sleep as possible.

If I get exposed to too many EMS, esp at night, I have a spot in my right cheek, where I've been talking on a cell phone all these years, that swells right up. It's like a barometer for EMS.

So now I just use the cell phone when I have to, and use speaker and hold it as far away as I can.

I used to get severe headaches from too much cell phone use. They've calmed down now that I avoid as many EMs as I can.

A meter that measures EMS might be a good investment if you don't already have one.

I love my EMF meter.

I always unplug my microwave when I'm not using it (and I only use it a few times a year - I agree that it's not healthy). It generates lots of EMFs even from many feet away, just from being plugged in.

Another big source of EMFs to watch out for is ANY kind of fan, whether big or small. Even when they're not running, they're generating tons of EMFs.

And then the other big one is DC power adapters. You'd be surprised how much EMFs those emit! Make sure you're not sleeping with them near your bed.

Hi,

I have been looking into some of these issues too so can tell you a few of the things that I believe, based on what I've read. These are my opinions:

A landline is the best phone to use, but be sure it is corded and not a cordless phone (they emit uwaves all the time, even when they're not in use).

Turn your cell phone off when at home and its not in use. If you do have to use it, outside is preferable, and try to use it on speakerphone. Also, try not to hold it up to your ear while its connecting. Really try not to use it in a car (open all the windows if you have to) because the waves will bounce around and hit everyone in the car.

Definitely dis-able your computer for wireless capability so it is not transmitting, as another poster suggested. Hardwire everything in your apartment; no wireless. If I had neighbors with WiFi, yes, I would try to get to know them and ask them to turn it off at night. Also, I would try to place my bed in a location furthest from their WiFi source. Perhaps against an outside-wall?

Also, generally you do not want to place your bed against a wall where the electricity comes into the apartment from the outside. (Although, in my house my bed is there, and it seems to be okay).

I recently purchased an EMF meter, and learned that I should step back from the blender and food processor while they are on.

I also rented a RadioFrequency (RF) meter to measure uwaves from uwave ovens, cordless phones, and WiFi. The cordless phone was the shocker to me and it went right in the trash. I also decided that standing 10 feet from the microwave oven was not far enough (while its on) and now I leave the kitchen.

I also rented a Body voltage meter to measure electric fields, a field that is a component of EMFs but is not talked about often. I found higher than average EFs in my house, while EMFs were relatively normal. Little is known about EF's. EF's come from electrical wiring in the walls. My suggestion would be to place beds away from walls, or especially away from walls that you know have many wires running through them (if possible).

I believe in being prudent when it comes to my children's health. I wish I'd learned some of this years ago.

PM me if you want to know the company that I rented the meters from.

Good Luck. I believe in what a consultant told me - you cannot change your exposures most of the time, but what you can do is try to minimize your exposures at night, so your body can rejuvenate and recover at that important time.

Somebody shoot me a PM on type/cost of EMF meter they have. I'm interested in checking out the levels in my house.

Thanks.
