So...traveling in Japan for work. Last night I took my usual vitamins and supplements before bedtime. I've been doing this for 8 months without problems.

Here is what I take: Ester C, Magnesium, Alpha Lipoic Acid, LDN, GSE capsules, Oil of O capsules, Olive Leaf Extract Capsules, etc. No antibiotics.

I drank a lot of water, but made the mistake of lying down almost immediately afterwards.

Fast forward to this morning..it feels like I have a pill stuck in my lower esophagus just above my stomach. I have drank water, lots of coffee and have eaten an entire, full breakfast and it is still there.

I'm burping a lot and there is some discomform behind my ribs when I breathe. Nothing has helped so far.

What to do? Does this sound like esophagitis? How do I know whether or not the pill is still there?

I've done some googling and some sites say it will pass in a day or two, where others say seek medical attention. GRRR.

And of course I just took my Doxy / Omnicef a few minutes ago. I took it with about 1/2 liter of water and some food...so hopefully I'm okay. But I worry they will get "stuck" on what ever is in there.

Note to self: 30 minutes before lying down!!!!

I am DEF not a doctor, so use your own discretion and hopefully others will chime in. However, this has happened to me several times and it has passed withing 24-48 hrs. It is possible that it irritated your esophagus and is causing some inflammation.

If you are able to drink, eat and swallow pills, it does not sound like an emergency to me. Also the fact that you are burping might be a good thing.

I would keep a VERY close eye on it and make sure it fades. I would say if you have severe pain or anything to definitely seek help ASAP.

I have had this lots. One of my first symptoms actually.

Not sure.. but my guess has been that it's my thyroid screwed up from the lyme? or... just that feeling in my throat from the lyme.

I always have to take pills with a few crackers right afterward to make sure they 'go down'.

I had a scope done about 10yrs ago when this started, and all looked good. I just had another one done and I have an esophagal ulcer down there and I have a hital hernia. Doc says those are probably from the pills I've taken or the lyme/stomach acid.

Happens to me sometimes to, and I usually freak out as well. [Wink]

Give it a few days, and I bet it will pass.

Thanks all. It's not excrutiating. But it is uncomfortable.

Either something is still stuck there, or whatever was stuck there irritated my esophagus. I've had this for a few moments before and then it would always go away if I ate something. But I've never slept 8 hours with something there. I didn't feel it until I got up.

I don't believe it is a lyme symptom. I just got sloppy with my pills.
