I've heard alot of people on here talking about how lyme causes cold extremities. I also have that problem
I guess I'm really curious as to HOW the lyme does it. like what is it affecting thats making your extremities cold?

I believe it is the heavy metals that cause the cold extremities... herxes can cause cold too.
I am constantly cold! Cold hands, feet and nose!
I have read some talk of how the lyme changes the body chemistry and makes the temperature lower because the spirochetes loathe heat.
Not sure... no concrete proof of any of what I mentioned. I would love to hear opinions on this and see citations if anyone has ideas!

I always thought that chronic pain stressed your body into conserving energy to your core body and so your circulation isn't as good on the extremeties.If you are in pain, your extremities may feel cold. I am always colder when my pain levels go up.

my llmd once told me that the blood goes to the torso to protect the vital organs so it not in the arms and legs. therefore, no blood, cold...
er, does that make sense?

I don't have pain and I don't have any metals in my body, well, not in testing, anyway.
I live in Florida and my feet and nose and sometimes my hands are cold UNLESS it is above 80 degrees and higher humidity. Then I'm a happy warm person.
Herxing doesn't seem to bother it.
To me, it just boils down to temperature and what our bodies can adjust to with the climate.

I sweat like a pig, even shoveling snow in the dead of winter. Drenched when I come in. But my hands and feet are almost always cold, except during high summer.
I used to have severe Raynaud's phenomenon (blanching of fingers), now it's milder. Raynaud's happens when there is vascular constriction caused by cold. I think therefore that cold hands and feet is kinda like a milder version of Raynaud's and may be caused by the same thing. Maybe thyroid as Lou says?

For me it is caused by Lyme induced autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Causes a lack of circulation which is brought about by vasoconstriction.
When to suspect Lyme "Cold hands and feet even in warm environments occurs and some patients have Raynaud's phenomenon."
"Potentially contributing to this vasoconstriction are excessive levels of vasoconstricting hormones, magnesium and potassium deficiency, limbic or hypothalamic dysfunction due to CNS infection, local inflammation of capillary sphincter or hypothyroidism."

my feet are cold at a certain time in the evening like they are on a clock or something.
my hands generally stay warm
I either put a heater on my feet or double up on the socks.
