I am being admitted on Monday to have the picc line put in.

I will be there for 1-3 days and sent home with the picc line for 30 days.

I have been on doxy for 2 months and not better.

Anyone on it now? Experiences with it?

I also had blood drawn yesterday to be tested for coinfections....

Wow....I had my picc line put in....and drove myself 1.5 hours home after insertion as they only used a local to numb my arm. I went to an infusion clinic to get my first dose the next day and the dressing changed. I go to the infusion clinic once weekly for the dressing change and get my supplies for the week to infuse at home. I am using the pump system so it's really easy. Mind you, if my insurance stops covering, I will have to do my own dressing changes and switch to a push, I'm sure.

I have been on the Ceftriaxone for 9 weeks tomorrow. I think I am seeing some gradual improvement with my neuro symptoms....but painfully slow. 30 days hardly touched it for me; but, everyone is different.

Good luck. The picc insertion, for me, was easy. And, in general, having the line is no big deal. I'm just very careful about sterility when I'm dealing with it. Hope it's helpful for you!

"tickssuck" Isn't that the truth!

I am also going in for a spinal tap... The doctor wants to monitor me for a day or so.

The doctor did mentioned to me about going somewhere to get the meds if I didn't have home care on my health insurance. Which I do, so I am very happy about that! Finally something went right.... lol

I am not sure what doses I am going to be given. I guess I will find all this out on Monday...

How bad are your neuro symptoms and overall pain? Where is the picc line, the arm?
