My wife had been on Abx for an year. She really made progress physically. Her body pains and weakness are almost gone except that she has the lower back and hip joint pain. But her cognitive issues, memory problems, not able to focus/concentrate did not get any better.

When she reads something she misreads words and did not even realize that. She is just 31 and she can't remember days and dates. For her ysterday means long back and she can't keep track of anything. She is passive while watching T.V, in conversation or when reading.

I feel really bad when she says that her mind is much older than her age.

Her doctor prescribed her Doxy, Larium and one more abx today that I don't remember.
Thank you,
Sai

You might try focusing on bartonella...Dr. B says in his guidelines that if the remaining symptoms are more neuro/brain, then bart is likely involved.

You might try Rifampin. Or Flagyl or tindamax may be worth a try...it tested as hitting both lyme and bart for us.

You may also want to incorpoorate some antiparasitic herbs into her present protocol. Parasites can play a big role in Lyme disease.

I had SEVERE neuro issues until I treated with antiparasitics. Do a search on here for parasites. Also google parasite symptoms,

I agree with the bartonella and parasite suggestions. My head cleared when I treated those.

Thank you all.
Tickbattler,
Last year she tried Rifampin for 5 days then she almost died. Her LLMD told her that it is because of the side effect but not herx. I remember she was prescribed Tindamax but not sure if she was on it for long.

Gael,
Does she need green signal from her LLMD if she wants to start antiparasite herbs?. Today only she had her appointment with her LLMD and will go after 4 weeks.

Thank you,
Sai.

forgot to add: last year she had stool test done for parasites which was -ve.

Sai,

A lot of people who are on other protocols just go ahead and treat the parasites on their own. You can run it by your LLMD, but he may not be knowledgable about parasites.

Maybe others here can give you more insight as to how they handled it. I think sixgoofykids treated on her own while on other meds. Maybe she can fill you in for more insight.

Your wife may need a different therapy to help the back and hip pain.

I had lower back pain that I treated with a Thermotex pad.
This is infrared heat.

Did you find your wife's birthday greetings over in General Support?

Oh- sorry to hear she had such a terrible reaction to Rifampin.

Another thought...try adding Cumanda from Nutramedix. It got rid of bart for my family (although we were on Samento as well which may hit it too). You need to start with one drop and go up slowly. We only needed 10 drops twice daily to eradicate our bart.

Thank you guys.

Carol,
I will check the link. Did you see results with it.

Lymetoo
I will check the greetings now. Thank you so much.

tick battler,
My wife's Lyme treatment started with Samento. She ended up using 10 or 12 drops twice a day. I will look into Cumanda.
thank you,
Sai.

Where did you guys all learn about parasites being a problem?

Did your LLMD tell you, or another Lyme patient, or did you learn about it somewhere else?

Camp Other, my LLMD had me taking herbs for bad bacteria in the intestines. I switched to Humaworm because it treats those bacteria and was one product rather than three products. Then I saw worms.

Did your LLMD recommend Humaworm, or did you learn about it yourself somewhere else?

What kind of worms did you see? How did you know what they were?

Were there a lot, and are you better now?

wifegotlyme,

Has she tried any IV antibiotics or Flagyl?

My understanding is that with neuro symptoms, anything which has good blood-brain-barrier penetration helps.

I didn't know my son was not reading until his LLMD asked him about this. He used to read 1-2 books a week... now he can't read and comprehend. Conversations are difficult, he can't remember much either. He just turned 12!

The neuro stuff blew up with him when his old pediatrician put him on prednisone after 28 days of Amoxy did not cure him. His chart actually reads "normal gout" - since when is gout normal in children or anyone?

It started off as facial tics, then full blown body convulsions that would knock him off a chair or off his feet with no notice. Frequent shoulder shrugs and constant massive headaches were some of the more severe symptoms.

This seems to be similar to what your wife experiences...

My son is finally seeing some improvement, slow but steady. He is off all abx and treating HPU and parasites consecutively. I would be happy to share more about his treatment if you think it will help your wife.

Yes, I did.
I lay in bed with the Thermotex Platinum under my low back, and a pillow under my knees, which relaxed the low back muscles.

I did this once or twice per day, for an hour at a time, for about two months.
I got alot of reading done!

The infrared heat increased the circulation in the area, helping it to heal.

Camp, my LLMD wanted me on herbs for citrobacter and klebsiella. He had me on several herbs, but I could treat it with one product, so I took Humaworm. He had never heard of it, but wrote the name of it down on a piece of paper and put it in his wallet so that he could research it later when I told him my experience with it.

I did not try to identify the parasites, though many looked like fishing bait/roundworms. I also had an enormous tapeworm, that was pretty simple to identify ... white, flat, LONG, gained ten pounds once it was passed.

Yes, I am better now.

Camp Other,
No, she did not try IV. Her LLMD told her to try Orals first.
mommylyme,
Thank you. Yes, I would like to know your son's protocol. My wife is also starting school from Monday. When she took classes in Spring she compalined about all the memory stuff and not beign able to focus in the class. Obviously she had to read many times to understand a single paragraph.

thank you Carol.

sixgoofykids,

Glad to hear you are doing better. Sounds like your LLMD is a bit of a naturopath, too.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. A tapeworm, seriously? That's wild.
