Ok so I'm only 33 so it's too early to be menopausal - but ever since starting my abx treatment I have been getting waves of heat that is mainly around my head, neck, upper body area. It is not constant but happens frequently throughout the day.

I was fine when I was on Mino (other than not tolerating the drug itself) but am on Biaxin/Amantadine/Flagyl since early December and the whole month of Jan have been feeling this hot flash sensation.

It tends to be worse at night but not sure if that makes any difference.

I used to get cold very easily but these days going outside in Boston seems very refreshing. I don't even layer up that much and barely need a hat. Meanwhile everyone walking around me is shivering.

Will this pass? It's nothing alarming but waking up each night feeling so hot (not quite sweaty) is disrupting my already lack of sleep.

I'm gonna have to turn on the window AC on tonight! [Frown]

Hot flashes can be bartonella or babesia. Often with bart you can also have sticky sweats while with babesia the sweats can be drenching - but that is not always the case. I tested positive for babesia d. and I did not have sweats or fever. I thought it was bart so I went untreated for three years.

Same with me...sticky upper body sweats, especially the chest area. I'm positive for both bart and babs, so I'm not sure which is causing it.

One thing I've noticed is that I sweat less throughout the day if I force myself to sweat by taking a long hot bath, so I'm guessing the sweats are toxin related, at least in my case.

Be careful though...I had this symptom a few years ago when I was maybe 41?...and doctors tried to tell me I was menopausal (between these sweats and the fact that they couldn't feel my ovary...it had shrunk).

But I am no longer menopausal, leading me to believe that menopause is likely never 'normal', but rather the end result of an untreated infection.

Ok so I tested negative for bart and babs therefore not really addressing it now.

Or do you think the Biaxin is bring it out somehow?

Or maybe my body is trying to detox itself (I'm not doing so much detox lately though)

[confused]
