Hello everyone,

Just wondering if Amoxy & Biaxin should be taken with food.

Everywhere I read, it states that they may be taken with or without food.

But a magazine article in the Lyme Times states that food may lower the amount of amoxy absorbed by the body.

If your llmd has prescribed one or both of these drugs, please let me know the instructions you were given. Thank you.

Jeffinca11, I am also taking Biaxin and Amoxycillin (along with Flagyl and Plaquenil and Probenecid). The Probencid actually maintains a higher level of the Amoxy in the bloodstream.

My LLMD said to do the following: Take one bite of food, then take the meds, then finish my meal.

I do this at breakfast and supper. At lunch time I take my supplements.

I have tolerated this very well. I think to take on a completely empty stomach, for some people, is asking for big problems.

Many of us have digestion problems of one kind or another, stomach issues, etc.

Don't forget the probiotics. I take mine an hour after meds and just before bedtime.

Take care and hope you feel better soon.

Amoxy is easy to take. You can get away with a very small snack, it's light on the stomach.

Biaxin without food is going to punish you. big time.

Take it mid way trough a meal.
