What causes "bone pain"? If I put pressure on a bone it will have a sharp pain. This morning I accidentally lightly hit my hand on something and it hit right on a bone. It hurt pretty bad.

I wonder if it's like rheumatoid where your bones are being disintegrated.

Bartonellosis is the source of "shin splints."

Bartonella quintana was the cause of "trench fever," also known as "bone-break fever." It primarily affects the tibia and fibula in the lower leg.

Babesia can cause bone pain, too.

I think the mechanism is swelling of the periosteum, the membrane that surrounds the bone. It pulls on the bone when it's inflamed.

I don't think your bones are disintegrating.
