Hey sorry to be gross- wondering if anyone else has the experience of having long strings of mucus in their eyes? I literally pull them out and they are a string.

This happens all the time to me. I often feel like there is stuff in my eye (like dirt or something). And then pull these strings out.

I've had this since I was 13 years old. I was told it is allergic conjunctivitis.

I thought I was the only person on the planet with this.

It is the craziest thing ever, isn't it?

Ahhh! Yes it is absolutely insane. I have had it for the past few years (since my illness got pretty bad).

Did you see an eye doc for it? What does one do for allergic conjunctivitis lol? I have it chronically....

I have it too, always thought allergies.

But one thing I have noticed.. that when I get low on B12, I get more of them... they go away when I get a shot of B12... Interesting huh...

My brother in law is an eye doctor and told me what it was. Nothing you can really do for it except find the trigger and avoid it.

In my case, it started the very day I started using mascara when I was 13. There is no way I am giving up mascara. I just try to find a good hypoallergenic brand, but it's still there.

Some days are worse than others, and it is really bad when I need to change my contact lenses. It calms way down when I put in new lenses.

But it has been so bad sometimes that I just stand in the mirror and dig strings out. [Eek!]

I've never heard this from anyone else!

My eyes practically pour mucus when I herx for Bartonella. Goop will collect at the inner corners of my eyes, and when I go to wipe it away, a whole string follows.

On the really bad days, I could watch it form in the mirror. Mucus would form on the sclera (white) and then drop into the lower lid and get pushed to the inner corner. Huge globs and strings.

I figured it was infection/biofilm.

I don't have any allergies.

This hasn't happened in over 6 months, though I'm still in treatment.

I think lots of infections affect the eyes.

Oooooo no, nowhere near that bad.

That looks more like pink-eye type conjunctivitis which is an infection.

Allergic conjunctivitis isn't an infection.

wasn't sure...i was mostly referring to the stringy things in the photo, i doubted you all had the puffiness or red eyes. this patient had trichinosis i believe.

My eyes def dont look like that.. though the strings, I guess sort of do. They are not visible to others really like that though. They are more how others explained.. like i pull them out of my eyes and they could be like 1-2 inches long! It is crazy.
