I have used charcoal caps since i am a teenager if intestinal issues. I did nto know you can use it for die off effects? I dont see how since charcoal absorbs all your nutrients and medications that you have taken that day..so I would think it would only be used in an emergency like a bad herx and you want to get hte abx out of your system?

I used KAL brand. I think I took 3 or 4 caps at night and then again during the day if herxing was really bad.
You have to take away from meds and supplements... several hrs... just like cholestyramine, welchol or bentonite clay.

last night i watched a program on monkeys. a spieces in africa eats arsnic plant, enough to kill a human the monkey has enzymes that protect them but it gives them gi problems, pain and bad gas. one of the sister spieces of the monkeys figured out that consuming charcoal from fires that humans leave behind takes care of their tummy problems. so, they teach it to their kids ...charcoal is good medicine!
now this group of monkeys eats their arsnic with joy..unfortuatly their friends haven't figured it out yet.
ive used charcoal for years esp. if i too have severe gas. you can use it for mopping up toxins its just not good to use often because it works so well at absorbing everything. it can leech out minerals etc. better for acute then chronic
i also keep charcoal from burnt wood in a jar for insect bites. you can mix it with a bit of oats or husks and make a pulstice out of it. ( sorry i can't spell these days) you can even use it for snake bites.
if you have an overdose you can take handfulls of the charcoal safely and possibly save your life!

It's also great if you drank too much alcohol (not that we Lymies do that anymore). Also great at the first sign of food poisoning.

I take it when I test for it. It is a great binder for yeast die off.

Charcoal is one of my favorites.
My son and I both take it and find it really helps with herxing as well as any kind of stomach discomfort.
My son has a terrible cold and all of the drainage from his congestion was really upsetting his stomach. Started giving him charcoal again at bedtime and now his upset stomach is gone.

I find it works even better for Herxes if you drink lemon water, too.
You need to make sure you don't get constipated - that can cause severe complications.
