A few months ago when I so some sx come back right after stopping abx I did more research on co infections. Based on my sx I thought bart was the issue for me. The ringing in the ears since to be a commond thing for bart. I also had mild sweats which are also more commented with bart. I never had the clasical sore soles. (How does that feel btw?)
When I switched doctors his first hunch was babs. He said the sweats makes he think it is babs. But they are not the soaking sweats I said but he still thinks babs.
The small rash I got 3 weeks into taking bactrim looks a lot like a bart rash. http://publichealthalert.org/pdfnew/2007_08.pdf picture is one of the rash I got. I also got the small flat red dots rash.
I remember getting these last year. I complained to my wife of feeling ichy all over right around the time I think I got bit. I would see them in small ammounts all over my body but they when away.
Bactrim also hits bart so I guess I am cover but if it is bart that I have and not barb I would like to take the Levofloxacin which is the one Dr. B recommnends. I took it in a small dose for what we thought was an ear infection and If I am not mistaken it make some other sx pop up. Maybe it was hitting bart? No sure so confusing :-(
Sorry for the long post but what would be your hunch babs or bart.

Bactrim works great for bart and babs, so you are covered. Take it for a while and see how you do.

I'm curious to see how you respond. My remaining symptoms are the same as yours, along with twiching calfs.
I do wonder if it is Bart or Babs. We believe Bart, but are not 100% certain. I will start to go after Bart again in about week with Doxy and Rifabutin. If that doesn't work...we will go after Babs.
I tried Bactrim last November and also got the dots as you describe (pimple like, but they weren't pimples.) But I had to stop Bactrim due to low WBC count.
I've always liked Rifampin / Rifabutin (aka Mycobutin) better than LEvaquin.

WhenI take bactrim, I started getting itchy red hives-is that what you were describing?

they are a bit itchy but not much...not bumpy. They are flat...

There is a high allergy rate with Bactrim...so hives could indicate an allergic response.

No...i got the hives later. About 2 weeks after Bactrim. I had to stop due to low WBC and the day after I broke out in an allergic rash.

bcb,
too bad you had to stop bactrim...I think it is working out for me as my ear issues are way better. I actually feels weird not having the ear fullness and the ringing so low. will keep you posted

I have had severe tinnitus and head/ear pressure, along with hearing loss, for a few months now.
I was only diagnosed with Lyme a little more than a month ago. So far, my ID Dr. has only had me take one month of Doxy.
I will see him again this coming week. Should i suggest that he prescribe me Bactrim? My appt. with the llmd isn't until the first of April.
I don't want to just do nothing about this horrible disease for more than a month.
Thanks!!

I am not a doctor so I cant really recommend anything but Bactrim seems to be working...
