I have been on numerous orals, IV rocephin and am now on IV doxy with zith and flagyl.

Did doxy do it for anyone? And, if so, when did you begin to start to see some relief? I am on day 4 of it and starting with day 1, I had increased brain fog and a 24/7 headache. Perhaps it is working? Perhaps it is a herx, that I have never had?

Sutherngirl...

Did you do other meds first and doxy ended up being "the one" for you? I have never in my life ever been on any form of doxy. This bout of IV doxy that I just started four days ago, is my first try with this drug.

I can't answer your question per se, but doxy can cause increased intercranial hypertension, which can cause a wicked headache.

I tend to have that problem to begin with, and doxy gave me 24/7 bad headaches and migraines. And this was on just 100 mg BID of oral doxy.

BUT, after I'd been on IV rocephin for 2 months, I could tolerate that level of doxy. My main point is that, besides the headaches possibly being a herx, they can be a side-effect.

Yes, I was on other antibiotics prior to taking Doxy. I can recall taking zithromax, biaxin, plaquenil, flagyl, minocycline and maybe one other. The only time I noticed improvement was on Doxy.

If you did...how long was it before you started to see improvement?

Hi Tri

If you find that your case is not responding to ABX let me suggest you read the book Healing Lyme. The author writes about herbs that boost certain natural killer immune cells that have been seen to be low in people whose cases don't respond to abx. Boost those cells with the herbs and people start to get well with abx.

The book names the *exact* NK cells (gives them an assigned number within their class) and quotes the science and studies that have been done. Not just postulation.

Best, CI

I started with oral doxy ONLY and after only a week I felt much better. I continued for a total of 6 months of doxy and pulsed Flagyl for 3 months in the middle. I just started with zith and flagyl after a relapse after 6 weeks of no ABX and I'm convinced the Flagyl is causing my head/neck soreness/discomfort so I have stopped after 2 weeks of pulsing it. Maybe I should have stuck with the doxy for a few more months the first time but I cannot take it with the sun hence the zith this time. Also looking to cover potential Bart b/c of the fairly quick relapse.
