I know our bodies are different than a "normal" person when it comes to some meds/supps.Stuff a normal person could take daily, can affect us negatively. Any meds you guys prefer or dislike when you have a cold/flu ? I've stopped abx for a few days and tried vitamin c and someother supps. They dont help much for symptom relief. Thanks

You could take ibuprofen to help relieve pain, fever, and inflammation. If you have congestion you could try mucinex and or sudafed. If you have runny nose try Benadryl or Zyrtec. For post nasal drip that's causing sore throat or cough try Benadryl.

If you chose to take a multi-symptom cold/flu remedy make sure to follow the dose recommendations. Check ingredients to make sure that you are not already taking anything listed.

Before purchasing an OTC med have the pharmacist check to make sure that the ingredients are safe to take with your prescription meds. Pharmacists can also help you chose the right med to treat your symptoms.

There are some non-medical things you can do for some symptoms too. Run a cool mist vaporizer, elevate your head while sleeping, use Breathe Right Nasal Strips, and stay well hydrated, and avoid milk products.

Feel better soon.

No two people are going to respond the same way, so sadly this often takes some experimenting to see which meds work for what you are dealing with. IE various strains.

For me.....I've been recommended for bedtime both Benedryl and Alka Seltzer Night. From what I'm understanding, both of these meds have an ingredient that seems to help many people fighting Lyme.

I know that without a cold, my LLMD would say Benedryl is a good one when your herx is extremely rough....so who knows.

I've tried the various asprin, Motrin, Tylenol but for me, I haven't found one that really works.

You may need to talk to your doctor for the best reoommendation for your exact case, but hopefully you have gotten some ideas. It sounds like this cold/virus season has been a rough one. I know that two in my family are fighting it right now.

Feel better!

Cathy
