was at the Vitamin Shoppe today, and considered picking up some Grapefruit seed extract. I have been wondering if I have Babs, as I get Flu symptoms like clockwork every two weeks. I have dizziness as well, but no very obvious symptoms.

I've also heard that is a good cyst buster. I'm currently treating for Bart with Cipro. I also take Plaquenil, since June 2011.

I have a LLMD appt in 2 weeks. Should I wait to see him? I normally would, But I am very curious to know if I'll get a Babs herx from the GSE.
anyone?

I started it 3 days ago. Started at 1 drop daily. Up to 2 drops. I have been extremely tired the last two days. Needed to nap in afternoon. Weak too. I don't know if it's the GSE or not.

What's really bothering me is I seem to be getting some pretty severe reflux/heartburn with it. I took Zantac 150 today hoping it'll calm it down. I remember Lymetoo said it was terrible.

I'm desperate to find something that may dent my issues though. I just one damn time to come out the other side improved some. [Frown]

I think the reason anyone thinks it helps Babs is because Tickbattler here keeps saying it cured her kids' Babesia. I guess we can take that for what it's worth. [Smile] My LLMD certainly didn't say that, but I figure it's aggressive on yeast, kills viral issues, anti-bacterial and anti-parasite. I gotta have something so I'll go for a kill. Hopefully my stomach isn't what gets killed first.

Tick battler and I have been talking and I've started GSE for babesia treatment too. It's worked wonders to stop my symptoms so far!

I take the liquid GSE and drink it with lots of water. I've had no problems at all with any heartburn.

Hello friends
Here's the scoop.

GSE is extremely bitter.

A) Bitter herbs stimulate bile production from the liver. This aids cholesterol and fat digestion, and aids detoxification (among other liver-secreted things, it's not the sole detoxifier at all).

B) The drawback is that *excess* bile can cause hyperacidity.

If you are getting gastric reflux with GSE tell your doctor.

C) Bitters create a PH inhospitable to many parasites, viruses and bacteria. So GSE works for many different kinds of infections.

Could GSE contribute to herx's? Yes. I don't know which exact bugs it targets, but do know that it is fairly broad spectrum. You should ask your doc about which exact lyme co-infections it will target.

I have some formal training in herbalism, hence this information.

None of the above statements have been evaluated by the FDA. This information does not diagnose, cure or prevent any disease. Medications and herbs may interact, talk with your doctor.

I recall asking my husband's LLMD (Dr. H in NY) a year ago about it killing babs and he said that it did not and if it did, he would know about it. I really like and admire this man, but I do think he was wrong this time.

I just recently learned from someone here that the new, very popular herb, A-babs, contains GSE. I wonder why it might be included in an herbal mix used to treat babesia?

If it is bothering your stomach, try diluting it in A LOT of water/juice. Also, ALWAYS take it on a full stomach. If it still bothers you, I guess it is not for you.

I take GSE capsules, primarily for yeast prevention and as a natural cyst buster.

Never heard about it for Babesia.

If it bothers your stomach, I would suggest drinking marshmallow root tea about 30 minutes prior, then doing the GSE.

I suggest to separate them because the GSE *might, I am assuming* interfere with the chemistry of marshmallow root.

Marshmallow root contains a high amount of mucillage, a gel-like substance that coats and protects the intestinal lining, but also is very soothing to it.

Add any tea you like for flavor, it is completely flavorless, almost like drinking gelatin water. Mint would be fine if you like that. A combination of mint and licorice would be even better, or fennel because the licorice and fennel would all benefit the stomach too. There is a tea combining all of these ingredients which is a gentle detox tea, I usually add marshmallow root and milk thistle seed to the mix (all herbs available in bulk at the healthfood store):

PS Important!

If you do use marshmallow root, it may possibly interfere with absorption of other medications because of the gel-like substance in it sliding things along the digestive tract.

Take it several hours apart from medication and it should be fine.

Milk thistle enhances the uptake of chemo and radiation therapies. I am told it also enhances the uptake of rifampin but my drug-herb interaction book is out on loan, so I am quoting off the top of my head. Let me post as caution:

It is *not* a good thing to enhance the uptake of a medication. It can predispose you to over-dose of the med. Not at all a good idea
unless it is medically supervised.

The other herbs in the tea above do not interact, except for the marshmallow root, to the best of my knowledge. If in doubt, be sure to ask your doctor.

This information above has not been evaluated by the FDA and does not diagnose, cure or prevent any disease.

Hi,
Do you all have any brand recommendations for GSE?

Posted by tick battler (Member # 21113) on :

Agrisept-L is the brand we use. I get the best price on Ebay.
