My understanding is it's a gel substance that has steorids in it and goes only to the area that it's put on not systemic.
Physical therapy wants to do this and I want to check this out before I put this on my knee.
MY LLMD who does ART hasn't come up with lyme when testing me in a long time however I'm still not 100%.

I am not sure about this for sure, but I will give you my experience.
I had this done for severe TMJ pain a couple of years ago (before I knew I had Lyme). It was amazing the relief it brought to me.
In my case they put little patches on both sides of my jaw then put a liquid mixture in holes on the patch and hooked it up to a machine that delivered some sort of frequency.
At the time not giving Lyme a thought, nor thinking any type of steroid could be dangerous I didn't question it.
I felt a buzzing sensation, but not painful. After about 3- 30 minute sessions I felt 90% better and with a new splint in place my jaw has been pretty stable pain wise.
Hope that helps some.
