My daughter has never been able to blow her nose. She had sinus and ear infections as a little tyke, but over the years those went away.

Anyway, she's got a cold now, and the whole "I can't blow my nose" thing came up again.

There have been so many other weird things that we now know are from Lyme, I am wondering if anyone else has this problem?

It's pretty annoying when she's all stuffed up and can't blow her nose to clear it out.

Sometimes an inability to blow anything out of your nose, along with stuffy feeling is caused by swollen nasal passages.

I know you're not supposed to use this stuff a lot in any case, but when I get like that, I get some Afrin nasal spray and use that for a day or two.

It shrinks the swelling and lets me blow my nose and breathe.

Ditto on the Afrin. Seriously works for 12 hrs.

My nasal passages are so swollen it's hard to sleep at night. I am able to blow, but the swelling is the real problem. The first month of treatment cleared it up. That was my first clue it is Lyme causing the problem and not allergies, as I used to believe.

I had to stop treatment for a while and the swelling is worse than ever.

JewelOsco carries a Nasal Spray called Simply Saline that eases the worst of my symptoms, but you have to check that the seal isn't broken very carefully. I've gotten home three times to find the seal was already broken. i still haven't been able to get back to get a new can.

Hope that helps your daughter. Nobody should have to suffer like this ~ especially not children.

Be careful! It's also seriously addictive! Go with saline if you can... and nasal washes.
