Sometimes I'm just sitting doing nothing, and I feel like I am breathing hard. I have to inhale deeper-hard to describe.
My LLMD isn't sure if I am battling babs or bart..
Can anyone tell me what is air hunger? I had it once many years ago, and it was kinda scary..not sure if this is a milder form, or shortness of breath from lyme.

My son's air hunger was a deep breath in every sentence, practically a gasp for air.
Mine was out of breath walking across a room or sometimes just sitting. My babs symptoms were very, very mild.
Try keeping a diary for a few weeks and see if you get a pattern.
I saw that I felt worse every 5-6 days. My LLMD started babesia treatment and I've been improving ever since!

I don't know the difference either really. All my life I have had shallow breathing with deep, heavy sighing. And I still have that, but now it also feels like I am trying to drink through a small straw.
When I am talking it gets really bad. And I will get out of breath from just turning over in bed.
I don't know if it is from Babs or Bart though, I've always just assumed Babs.

Initially, I thought air hunger meant only gasping for breath. I never really had that, but my LLMD told me that my constant shortness of breath is also considered air hunger.
I think because we all respond a little differently to these infections, our symptoms may be a little different also. Strains, etc. surely play a part too.

Hi, I'm new here. I'm trying to figure out if my 11 year old son's terrible symptoms for over a year could be lyme. This "air hunger" that you are talking about, can it be so severe that the person passes out. My son gets these episodes where he gasps, puts his hands to his throat and then passes out a few seconds later. I've never heard anyone anywhere describe anything close to that until here and now. I'm reading thru posts in hopes of learning something that might help my son. eeyoreangel7419

I have not heard of anyone passing out but it sounds very possible. I hope you find answers eeyoreangel.
My air hunger is the feeling that I need a deep breath and my lungs will not fully expand. I keep trying to yawn.
Of course I also have shortness of breath - I am breathless when I exert myself at all but I don't call that air hunger.
