My LLMD has recommended colonic hydrotherapy with a coffee enema and probiotics as part of my heavy metal detox.
His recommendation is that I get 2 within 3 days followed by 1 every week for 2 months.
Does this sound right?
I am curious as to everyone's experience with this.
Do you actually get better from colonic hydrotherapy? I have read that it isn't proven but I have also read that it is beneficial.
How traumatic is this going to be? Posted by lululymemom (Member # 26405) on :
There are many who do coffee enemas on here.. A search will bring up many threads on this subject.
The colonic hydrotherapy is part of Dr. K's protocol. I have never tried it, but he states that he has successfully treated over 900 cases so I would trust that it works.

I think your doctor is very smart to have you clean out your colon prior to heavy metal detox.
A) According to Mark Hyman MD, stool matter clinging to the intestinal walls (happens with many/most of us) can contain heavy metals. When clinging to the gut wall, the heavy metals are re-absorbed from the fecal material because there are capillaries feeding into the gut. So the heavy metals enter the bloodstream (along with fecal toxins) and you get the picture. I am not sure it was mentioned in this article, but here is also an article by Dr Hyman about heavy metal cleansing: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mark-hyman/autism-mercury-toxicity_b_497047.html
That's why to keep the gut clean is not only important to digestion, but to over-all health and immunity.
C) Here is a product my acupuncturist thinks is the safest one to detoxify heavy metals once you start this process. You could ask your doctor what s/he thinks. What made sense to me in my acupuncturist's opinion, was the concern that other heavy metal chelating products strip the cells of metals...but what's there to detoxify them? This product by Metagenics, called Metalloclear, boosts the liver's production of metal-cleansing enzymes so it protects you: http://www.iherb.com/Metagenics-MetalloClear-180-Tablets/20702?at=0
According to Linda Rector Page ND in her book Healthy Healing, coffee enemas dilate the passage between the liver and the gallbladder, facilitating the release of gallstones or any other blockage. Not that you have any, but it's a good cleanser, that's the point.
I would suggest that you ask your doctor about milk thistle prior to metal detox, only an idea.
To cleanse the colon prior to detoxifying heavy metals will aid heavy metal cleansing later on, protect you from re-absorption of metals, and will aid digestion and immunity too. Win-win!
I hope this helps!
I am not a doctor.

Colonic therapy has been an integral part of my healing.
I am so impressed with them that I bought the home machine. The machine paid itself off very quickly.
It's not traumatic. For how much better you'll feel afterwards it's worth it. I compare colonics with doing my income tax. I just dread doing it but then feel so fantastic when it's done.

lululymemom, thank you for posting Dr. K's protocol. The dentist that is going to perform my heavy metal detox studied under him.
chiquita incognita, your response really makes sense and is full of so much info. You sound like such an expert on detox. Have you gone through heavy metal detox along with colonics?
lauralyme, good to read your positive report on colonic hydrotherapy especially since you have first hand experience with it.

For real, Laura? Can you post what I need to know about this to do it myself?

The machine is a bit expensive, but considering colonics cost $80 each......it doesn't take long to break even. Then you have the machine for the rest of your life. It's the best thing I ever bought. I wish I had bought it earlier on in treatment.
There are no moving parts on this machine. Unless it is dropped on the floor it will last forever.
